Special Events and Notes

The big news this week isn’t Disneyland-specific, but the D23 Expo will be taking place at the nearby Anaheim Convention Center, and it starts this Friday, August 23.  We are actually expecting that to be a fairly low day at the parks at least from a wait time standpoint, with a lot of the superfans over at the Expo. That said, there will obviously be a lot of Disney folks in the area. Tickets are no longer available, as an aside.

The Main Street Electrical Parade continues its renewed run in the evenings through September 30, and the 25th Anniversary of The Lion King continues at Disney California Adventure through September 2, which includes storytellers, African song, dance, artwork, crafts, and more at the Palisades Stage. Check here and your in-park times guide for more details. The Pop Up Disney exhibition likewise ends on September 2. Also, the original Soarin’ Over California is available to experience through August 31. Lots to do between now and Labor Day weekend!

Looking ahead, tickets are now available for Disney’s new Halloween Party at California Adventure this fall — the Oogie Boogie Bash — including a dance party, treat trails, and special presentation of World of Color called “Villainous.” More details are available here.

Finally, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge continues to be the primary “special event” at Disneyland this summer. You can stay abreast of ALL of our Galaxy’s Edge coverage by bookmarking this link.

Crowds

As has been the case lately, Sunday is predicted to be the best day to visit from a crowd standpoint, though Friday, the first day of D23, is also expected to be relatively light. Passholder blackouts are lifted as of Monday, as reflected in the higher crowds.

Adjustments to the crowd calendar will be ongoing throughout the summer. For the most up-to-date numbers, check out our Crowd Calendar.

Weather

This week definitely trends warmer as it progresses, with highs in the 90s by the time Wednesday arrives. As per usual, there’s only a slight chance of rain, which is over the weekend.

As always, it’s wise to double check the weather as the day of your visit approaches. Check out the most up-to-date forecast here.
