Olaf’s Frozen Hot Chocolate is a (Very) Sweet Treat

Disney has introduced dessert items to celebrate the release of the Frozen II film on November 22. Among them is this Olaf-themed Frozen Hot Chocolate Cake. Get it? FROZEN hot chocolate?

Olaf is available for $6.99 at the Main Street Bakery (aka Starbucks) in the Magic Kingdom. This item is advertised as being “gluten-friendly chocolate cake layered with chocolate crispy pearls, chocolate panna cotta, and marshmallow fluff.”

Given the name, we wanted this to taste super chocolatey, but unfortunately the layer of chocolate panna cotta on the bottom was completely overwhelmed by the marshmallow. Overall it just tasted generally sweet rather than having a specific flavor. Even the adorable Olaf marshmallow on top was coated in a layer of granulated sugar, giving a punch of even more sweetness to an already cloying density of sweet.

That said, Olaf sure is pretty, and if you’re in the mood for a sugar rush, this is absolutely the thing you should eat, but if you want more nuanced flavors, try something else.
