Avengers Campus Opens at the Disneyland Resort on July 18
Get ready to get your super hero on! That’s because Avengers Campus, the new Marvel-themed land for Disney California Adventure will officially open on July 18. Avengers Campus was set up by the Avengers to recruit the next generation of Super Heroes.
Avengers Campus will be home to the Worldwide Engineering Brigade – also known as “WEB”. This will be the home of a new Spider-Man experience, called WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure, where Guests will enter the attraction to find an open house. Here aspiring inventors have invited you for a test drive of their latest invention: the “Web Slinger” vehicle. This vehicle allows Guests the opportunity to sling webs just like Spider-Man, as you help Spider-Man collect Spider-Bots that have run amok.
This family-friendly attraction will include Tom Holland as Spider-Man and blends physical sets and virtual environments, leveraging specially designed, innovative technology that detects body movements and gestures. You will reach out your hands and sling webs from your wrists. Disney has also announced that there will be no height requirement for this attraction!
Avengers Campus will also feature Pym Test Kitchen. Based on Ant-Man, the restaurant will use “Pym Particles” to grow and shrink just about anything, including the food and beverage. Pym Technologies applies this innovative science to the creation of shareable bites, inventive-sized entrees and sweet treats. You will be able to taste-test such items as the Impossible plant-based large and micro meatballs with pasta, or the “Pym-ini,” a panini served by the slice or as a long, multi-portion sandwich.
In addition, adjacent to the Pym Test Kitchen, an oversized beer can overhead signals that grown-up beverage options are available at Pym Tasting Lab. Adults will be able to order a craft beer, ranging from a blood orange hefeweizen to an amber lager or try one of the Pym Research Staff’s Pym Particle-infused cocktail experiments.
In addition, the Avengers favorite shawarma restaurant, the Shawarma Palace, to open a location at the Campus. Guests will be able to enjoy favorite shawarma-inspired snacks at this food cart, which is decked out with memorabilia since the Shawarma Palace owners are huge Avengers fans.
The final dining location will be at the Terran Treats food cart near Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! which is brought to life by Taneleer Tivan who is curating a weird and wonderful menu of intergalactic eats.
Guests who visit this new land will also find some of their favorite characters including Black Widow, Doctor Strange, the Guardians of the Galaxy, Super Heroes from Wakanda and Asgard, and Iron Man, will be debuting his new armor in Avengers Campus: the Mark 80. Also, Ant-Man and The Wasp will be making their first appearances in the park! You may even have the chance to witness Spider-Man swinging high above Avengers Campus with gravity-defying, acrobatic feats never seen before in a Disney theme park. Finally, the villainous Taskmaster, who will have a role in the upcoming film Black Widow, will be seen for the first time at a Disney park at Avengers Campus.
In addition, Doctor Strange will train recruits in the mystic arts by bringing this ancient sanctum to life with powerful spells. At night, the area glows even more vividly with majestic colors and lights, pulsating with mystic energy.
Who else is ready to visit Avengers Campus?
@Tia: Mystic Sanctum will be a more-elaborate-than-usual meet & greet with Doctor Strange (like the original Thor meet & greet when we got sucked thru the bifrost to meet Thor in Asgard).
The Pym eatery sounds fun, honestly. I’m interested in hearing if the food is any good. I’d also like more info on the Mystic Sanctum as that description was too vague for me to decide what it was. A show, perhaps? Or a child-interaction dress-up thing? A walk-thru garden?
Spider-man sounds interesting, but I remain skeptical that the hand gesture thing will be intuitive and fun. And not have lots of technical issues. We’ll see.
Thanks for this preview!
I’m looking forward to the eventual expose on who exactly at WDI is responsible for nearly every single new attraction, restaurant, land, or hotel name in the last several years having a colon or hyphen in it. It’s so weird.
Just call it Web Slingers!
