Say Cheese! Walt Disney World Makes Big Update to Face Mask Policy When Taking Photos

Walt Disney World has been following strict face covering policies since reopening. Guests age 2 and up must use correct face coverings at almost all times while at the parks and resorts. The main exception to this rule is while actively eating and drinking, while remaining stationary. However, there’s a brand new change that will go into effect on April 8 that you will want to be aware of.

Disney has updated their stipulations stating that Guests may remove face coverings while actively eating, drinking, and now taking an outdoor photo. When face masks are removed, Guests must remain stationary and keep proper physical distancing.

When inquiring further, Disney has stated that Guests may not remove face coverings when taking photos indoors, nor on any on-ride photos, even if that ride photo is being taken outdoors. (Like on Seven Dwarfs Mine Train.) The ability to remove your mask will include outdoor photos taken by Disney PhotoPass, so long as they follow guidelines.

Disney keeps updating their policies depending on the current climate and based on CDC guidelines. One would expect that as time continues to march on and more and more people are vaccinated, face mask restrictions will continue to be adjusted. We’ll keep you posted as we learn more.
