Disney Goes Adults-Only With New Geo-82 Spaceship Earth Lounge

A brand new lounge inside Spaceship Earth is on the slate of new Disney locations in 2025. And the Geo-82 lounge won’t just be new because it’s new, it will be new because it’s the first space inside a Disney World park that’s 21+ only.

The new lounge inside Spaceship Earth was announced in August 2024 at D23, alongside news of a Pirates-themed lounge in the Magic Kingdom. At the time, the description of the Magic Kingdom lounge specifically called out the all-ages welcome, but I don’t think any of us foresaw the “absence” of similar language at the Spaceship Earth venue as an intention for an adults-only space.

Today, Disney released four new pieces of information that were more specific than “warm, metallic tones that echo Spaceship Earth.” Number one: the name is Geo-82. Number 2, is a very cool piece of header art. We suspect it’s a logo, and it definitely fits with “warm metallic tones that echo Spaceship Earth.”

The third and fourth things we learned are that Geo-82 will be available by reservation, and will be adults-only. Reservation availability isn’t a surprise; when locations are popular enough Disney has enforced shared tables and 45-minute time limits. (Yes, we’re looking at you Oga’s Cantina). And this will undoubtedly be a popular spot. We’re sure that if it’s not busy, spots will be available via Walk-up Waitlist. But adults-only in a park is new and different.

To be clear, no-kids spaces have existed at Disney World for a long time, although they’re few and far between. Some venues in the former Pleasure Island were 21+, the Atlantic Dance Hall on Disney’s Boardwalk is adults-only (along with the nearby Jellyrolls which is closing in April), and Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto is 21+ after 8 pm. None of us on the TouringPlans team, however, can think of any spaces inside the famously family-friendly parks that were age-restricted.

Why now? Only Disney can say what led to this decision. It could be changing demographics and a desire to provide a few spaces for Disney Adults. Or, a cynical person might say that it’s an effort to thin the field and manage demand enough to avoid needing unpopular measures like time limits. If you have thoughts, we’d love to hear them!
