Allergy-Friendly Trick or Treating at Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party
If you’ve got allergies, trick or treating can be fraught. The good news is: if you’re headed to Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party, allergy-friendly trick or treating is part of the fun! Read on for everything you need to know if you’ll be heading to the Party this year.
How Allergy-Friendly Trick or Treating Works at Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party
Here’s the quick overview, and then we’ll walk you through step-by-step with more details.
- You’ll collect a marked allergy-friendly treat bag
- At each Trick or Treat stop throughout the park you’ll get an allergy token
- When you’re ready to leave, exchange your allergy tokens for treats at designated locations that have allergy-safe treats
The allergy-friendly Trick-or-Treating is part of the Teal Pumpkin Project, so the allergy-friendly bags are the same teal color your allergy-sensitive trick-or-treater is likely familiar with from the teal pumpkins for neighborhood trick-or-treating. The bags are a thin plastic, and even the handles are teal.
Getting an Allergy-Friendly Treat Bag
When you first enter through the gates with your party ticket, you’ll be directed around to the right toward the Market Street Welcome. This is a backstage “street” where you’ll get your Trick-or-Treat bag. Both allergy-friendly bags and regular bags are available in most of the bins, just ask for the allergy-friendly bag for any members of your party who need it.
You’ll also get your first treat when you get your bag. For those with allergy-friendly bags, it will be your first token of the night.
If you entered the Magic Kingdom earlier on a regular ticket and picked up your party wristband inside the park, never fear. Allergy Cast Members at the trick-or-treat locations will have extra allergy-friendly bags available and you can pick one up there.
Where to Trick or Treat
Trick or Treating locations are marked on your party map, or you can recognize them by the large inflatables outside. In 2024 there are 14 locations throughout the night, plus the one at the Market Street welcome area which closes at 8 pm.
The candy at these locations is sponsored by M&M Mars, and contains a variety of allergens – especially nuts. In order to avoid cross-contamination, allergy-friendly candy is not handed out in these locations. Instead, look for an allergy Cast Member wearing a teal apron at the entrance outside the location. These allergy Cast Members do not handle the candy. The allergy Cast Member will give you your allergy token.
If other members of your party are trick or treating with regular bags, you might still wish to go through the line. There’s no need to hold out your teal bag, and the teal-colored handles will help to keep Cast Members who are distributing candy from reaching for them by mistake.
Where to Redeem Your Allergy Tokens
There are two allergy-friendly centers where you can trade in your tokens for allergy-friendly treats. The Liberty Square Ticket Office next to the Hall of Presidents is open until midnight, and the Chamber of Commerce on Main Street is open until 12:30 am. Visit either location to redeem all your tokens at one time.

In 2024 the allergy-friendly treats are sponsored by the Safe+Fair Food Company. Available options include

- Yum Earth lollipops
- Smarties

- a choice of 4 different foam craft kits (non-edible item)
Of course, not everyone can eat every treat, even from an allergy-friendly redemption center. Guides are available that list all the ingredients in each of the allergy-friendly treats. For several common allergens, there’s a “quick reference” showing which treats are safe for that particular allergen.
We found that token redemption was generous in 2024, more generous than it has been in the past. Our parks team visited about half the trick-or-treating stops during the party, and after redemption their allergy-friendly bag was about three-quarters filled. Bonanza!

Friends of mine went last night, this was their first time, and were not told about this option when they asked. As a matter of fact, the CM was specifically asked if they had an option with no nuts, and were told NO. I will be speaking to GS when I get there next week. This is wrong. Nut allergies are deadly. In two weeks, I will be trick or treating at my own MNSSHP for my friend who did not have this option last night. Let’s take care of each other.
This will be our first time going. My kids are wondering, how many tokens are needed to redeem? And how often can they do that? I think their thoughts are, other kiddos (or adults) can munch as they go if they want, and keep collecting. My kids are wondering if that’s an option for them as well.
Hi Sarah, you can redeem as often as you like, but since there are fewer locations most families simply choose to do it once or twice. Our parks team turned in tokens from 7 stops and ended up with about 3/4 of a bag, what they judged as similar to the person who had gone to the same treat stops and gotten the regular candy. It can be a little difficult to compare because there’s much more size variation between say, the Smarties and the sunflower butter cups than there is with the regular candy which is a pretty consistent “Halloween minis” size. But in other years our team has felt a little like the allergy-friendly bag got “gypped” and they definitely did not feel that this year.

Hi Jo, yes that’s correct. This is a change from previous years, you can now get your token without entering the treat location, and from someone who is not handling the regular (non-allergy-friendly) treats.
