Hard-ticket seasonal parties at the Magic Kingdom offer a great opportunity for some unique experiences, such as special shows and fireworks, along with special character meets and reduced lines for attractions. Both Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party and Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party are incredibly popular, often selling out on select nights during their run, but is one better than the other? We asked, and you answered with a clear favorite. Here’s your results.

Neither is better than the other

For some people, each event provides such a unique experience that picking a favorite event would be like picking your favorite child. For others, the high ticket price means that the events just aren’t worth it. Whatever your reason, 15 percent of you felt that it was impossible to pick one over the other. Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party

Ah, the feels. Peace on earth. Time with family. A castle covered in icicles and snow in the air. For most nights, you might want to leave your ugly holiday sweater at home (because it is Florida, after all), but you can get that real yuletide vibe during this after-hours event. Special fireworks and the Once Upon a Christmastime parade are the main draws, but stage shows also help to fill out the night. Overwhelmingly, the special treats are often mentioned as a shortcoming for this event–hot chocolate and cookies just can’t compare with trick or treating!

Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party

By a large margin, your favorite of the two parties is Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party. From every aspect, the consensus is that the Halloween party has better everything. The stage shows are better (especially with the inclusion of the Hocus Pocus Villains Spelltacular). The parade is better, with a catchy song that you won’t be able to get out of your head (“Boo to you and you and you…” You’re welcome.). The Happy HalloWishes fireworks are exceptional. And unlike the Christmas party, which will have some aspects of the party available to everyone if you are okay to fight your way through the peak-holiday crowds during normal operating hours, the only way you can experience the Halloween party events is to go to this party. (Or get a taste of the experience by eating a candy bar while watching HalloWishes from a Magic Kingdom resort hotel.) And speaking of chocolate, compared with the meager snacks at the Christmas party, you can walk away with a child’s weight in candy by the end of the evening. I have actually seen people rent strollers just to carry their candy. For those of us who are well beyond the trick-or-treat age, this is a huge benefit for the event.
