It’s been closed for many months now, but Capt. Cook’s, found at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort has now reopened from its refurbishment. The quick-service location has seen quite a few changes. First, the ordering touch-screens are gone. The dining room area has also seen an overhaul, with a new brown color scheme, as well as fun Polynesian Resort-themed artwork adorning the walls.

Guests searching for Dole Whips will also be sad to learn they have not returned to this location. (The pineapple treat will eventually return to The Polynesian at a new location called Pineapple Lanai, which will be opening soon, but no specific date has been announced. Guests can currently still get their Dole Whip fix at the Magic Kingdom’s Aloha Isle.)

The lunch/dinner menu has also seen an update. Many items remain, and many new items have been added. (Unfortunately my Grown-Up Grilled Cheese didn’t make the cut…boo…) It does seem as though the menu is more extensive now. Menu items include:

  • Chicken and Waffles ($7.99) – crispy buffalo chicken fritters on a waffle topped with romaine and ranch dressing
  • All-Beef Hot Dog ($8.59) – with mango relish and garlic-ketchup
  • Fish Tacos ($7.99) – blackened fish of the day on a flour tortilla topped with broccoli slaw
  • Udon Noodle Bowl with Shrimp or Beef ($8.49-$8.99) – with udon noodles and seasonal vegetables on bui broth
  • Hawaiian Flatbread ($9.99) – marinara, pineapple, onions, ham, mozzarella, and Parmesan
  • Traditional Flatbread ($8.19) marinara and cheese
  • Pepperoni Flatbread ($8.79) – marinara, mozzarella, Parmesan, and pepperoni
  • Daily Flatbreads ($8.19-$9.99)
  • Big Kahuna Sandwich ($9.19) – turkey, ham, salami, roast beef, Swiss, lettuce, and tomato on focaccia with red pepper spread and chips
  • Hot Beef and Cheddar ($9.29) – roast beef, cheddar, and caramelized onions with sweet chili mayo on house-made bread
  • Grilled Ham and Cheese ($9.29) – with sweet chili mayo on multi-grain bread
  • Ruben Sandwich ($9.49)
  • Lobster Roll ($16.29) – lobster salad on a split-top roll with chips
  • House-made Tuna Salad Sandwich ($7.29) – with thinly-sliced cucumbers on house-made bread

  • Grilled Chicken Sandwich ($9.49) – with cheddar, bacon, teriyaki sauce, and pineapple salsa

  • 1/3 lb Angus Bacon Cheeseburger ($9.99) – with American, lettuce, and tomatoes
  • Polynesian Salad with Chicken ($9.29) – mixed greens, cucumbers, pineapples, blue cheese, cherry tomatoes, and wonton strips with sesame-soy dressing
  • Caesar Salad with Chicken ($8.49)

For breakfast, the menu includes:

  • Bounty Breakfast Platter ($8.99) – scrambled eggs with bacon, sausage, breakfast potatoes, french toast sticks, and a biscuit
  • Mickey Waffle ($4.99) – made-to-order waffle with the option to add bacon, sausage, or strawberry sauce

  • I was told by the manager at Contempo Cafe last week that all touch screens will be gone from WDW soon. He called it a failed experiment (due to the difficulty of handling food exceptions like allergies).

  • Hi there! Tonga toast has remained and we also added a breakfast burrito on the menu as well. Don’t worry the dolewhip will return when Pineapple Lanai opens up!!! *I work there!

  • Very sad. My favorite lunch was grown up grilled cheese and a dole whip.

    • Me too 🙁 Plus those of us who don’t eat meat are now just out of luck. I try and avoid complaining about changes, but this one has got to me.

      • I agree. I don’t eat meat or dairy, so I will not be going there.

      • I’m not hampered by such restrictions, but I will not be going there either…because it’s pretty mediocre food.

  • Did the Tonga Toast stay on the breakfast menu?

    • I have not seen the breakfast menu information yet, but I believe it would have remained. It was on the menu at the temporary location previously.

    • I have updated the post with the breakfast options…and yes, Tonga Toast has remained!

      • Awesome. Thanks Rikki!
