Ahoy, mateys! I’m Heather, and I’ll be bringing you the up and coming on all things Disney Cruise Line. Welcome back again this week. Let’s see what’s new in the DCL world!

Ports of Call

Disney Cruise Line: In The News

DCL has officially cancelled all Port Adventures operated by Taquan Air for the remainder of the Alaskan cruise season, following the tragic crash a few weeks ago. The Port Adventures affected are:

  • Alaska Bear Adventure
  • Amazing Misty Fjords by Floatplane
  • Exclusive Flightseeing and Crab Feast
  • Exclusive Private Air Tour
  • Misty Fjords Boat and Floatplane Adventure
  • Neets Bay Bear Adventure and Flightseeing

Say goodbye to the pre-cruise spiral booklet you may have expected in the mail. With the recent upgrade of the Navigator app, much of the info previously provided in the booklet will be available digitally. You’ll still get Mickey Mail, though it will just be one page of info along with your luggage tags!

Here’s this week’s special offers. Most every week of the year, Disney Cruise Line releases special offers for Florida Residents and U.S. Military Personnel.  There are also frequently IGT/OGT/VGT rates available for all guests to book.  These offers are extremely limited in availability, and all come with certain restrictions, but the prices are amazing! You can book these online, on the phone, or with your travel agent. These are the current offers available this week:

Upcoming Entertainment

The following films are being shown aboard the Disney Cruise Line ships this month:

  • Avengers: Infinity War
  • Incredibles 2
  • Ant-Man and The Wasp
  • Ralph Breaks the Internet
  • Mary Poppins Returns
  • Captain Marvel
  • Dumbo
  • Disneynature: Penguins
  • Avengers: Endgame
  • Aladdin

For future reference, films debut on Disney Cruise Line the same day of their initial release in the United States. Films do vary by ship. Show times are available in your Personal Navigator or the official Disney Cruise Line app.

Captain’s Log: Important Tips and Information

Well, it seems that the long-running and much loved original stage show Disney Wishes has fallen victim to Kristoff’s ax. In October, Wishes will be replaced by Frozen, A Musical Spectacular. Frozen debuted on the Disney Wonder in November 2016. This Broadway caliber show is undoubtedly popular on the Wonder, with guests often lining up outside the theater for a seat. Frozen will join Aladdin as the second IP-based show on the Fantasy.

If you just can’t let go of your love for all things Frozen, fear not, as you’ll find activities with your favorite cool characters across the fleet. Anna, Elsa, and Olaf are onboard for most sailings for a special meet and greet. Don’t leave this must-do to the last minute, as you do need a ticket, which can be booked online when your respective booking window opens (if you miss you, try to grab them onboard as some are generally reserved for this purpose); but good news, tickets are free!

On Alaskan and select European sailings, the standard Pirates in the Caribbean night is replaced appropriately with a different deck party, Freezing the Night away with Anna, Elsa, and friends! On this night, you can also usually expect a Frozen-themed menu in the main dining rooms.

For the little Frozen fans, there’s a special Frozen makeover package option at the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, complete with a choice of Anna or Elsa costume, and since every princess needs a sidekick, an Olaf plush.

And speaking of Olaf, it’s no surprise you’ll find him hanging out on Castaway Cay, doing what frozen things do in summer! Make sure to visit the happy snowman at Olaf’s Summertime Freeze Bar for a specialty frozen drink, and a photo op!

How do you feel about Frozen fractals all around? Are you excited that Frozen is joining the show lineup on the Fantasy? Do you prefer the original productions? Tell me in the comments!
