Ahoy, mateys! I’m Heather, and I’ll be bringing you the up and coming on all things Disney Cruise Line. Welcome back again this week. Let’s see what’s new in the DCL world!

Ports of Call

Disney Cruise Line: In The News

New video alert from the Disney Parks Blog – take a peek inside the newly enhanced areas of the Disney Wonder! Oh that French Quarter Lounge…..right?

While fun is a priority, safety always comes first. It’s always a good idea to be familiar with the list of prohibited items so you don’t pack anything that can cause an issue!

Here’s this week’s special offers. Most every week of the year, Disney Cruise Line releases special offers for Florida Residents and U.S. Military Personnel.  There are also frequently IGT/OGT/VGT rates available for all guests to book.  These offers are extremely limited in availability, and all come with certain restrictions, but the prices are amazing! You can book these online, on the phone, or with your travel agent. These are the current offers available this week:

Upcoming Entertainment

The following films are being shown aboard the Disney Cruise Line ships this month:

  • Captain Marvel
  • Dumbo
  • Disneynature: Penguins
  • Avengers: Endgame
  • Aladdin
  • Toy Story 4
  • Lion King
  • The Nightmare Before Christmas
  • Maleficent: Mistress of Evil

For future reference, films debut on Disney Cruise Line the same day of their initial release in the United States. Films do vary by ship. Show times are available in your Personal Navigator or the official Disney Cruise Line app.

Captain’s Log: Important Tips and Information

Yesterday, DCL announced that the crew would now have access to free text messaging while working onboard. My word I cannot tell you how excited this news made me! I mean first of all, it’s about time!!! Did you know that the crew has to pay for internet access, just as we do? While they’ll still have to pay for full internet access, just having iMessage and text capabilities will make such a difference! So many of these hard working individuals have family and friends back home, which may be halfway around the world, I can’t imagine what it will do for their morale to be able to have this form of contact available to them now! Did I mention, it’s about time?!? Because DCL is the first major cruise line to offer this to their crew. Let that sink in. Long hours, long contracts, high expectations for excellent service….I think that they deserve this at the very least! So, bravo Disney.

Now for us guests, WiFi is a different matter. The free ship WiFi will only get you access to the DCL Navigator app, and if you are using an iOS device, you’ll have free iMessage (for text only, no photos). Sorry Android users, no free texting for you….for now at least. As for access to the rest of the internet, if you need it, you have options! Packages are available, or you can pay by the MB as you go. All guests are eligible for a free 50MB package, but you have to sign up for it on embarkation day. And you definitely want to make the most of your MB – having the proper settings on your device will make your dollar and your web time go a lot further!
