Ahoy, mateys! I’m Heather, and I’ll be bringing you the up and coming on all things Disney Cruise Line. Welcome back again this week. Let’s see what’s new in the DCL world.

Ports of Call

Disney Cruise Line: In The News

The Disney Magic will be kicking off the European cruise season soon! Packing the right way always matters, but it matters even a bit more when you are throwing an overseas flight into the mix. Tammy has some great tips on what to pack so you maximize what’s important, and of course leave room for souvenirs!

For years the rumor mill has been chirping about purchasing a second area of land for a “Castaway Cay 2.0” – which will become rather necessary with the expansion of the fleet in 2021-2023. The Disney Cruise Line blog shares some insight on a possible location being considered in the Bahamas. What are your thoughts on the potential purchase and development of Lighthouse Point?

Here’s this week’s special offers. Most every week of the year, Disney Cruise Line releases special offers for Florida Residents and U.S. Military Personnel.  There are also frequently IGT/OGT/VGT rates available for all guests to book.  These offers are extremely limited in availability, and all come with certain restrictions, but the prices are amazing! You can book these online, on the phone, or with your travel agent. These are the current offers available this week:

Upcoming Entertainment

The following films are being shown aboard the Disney Cruise Line ships this month:

  • Born In China
  • Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2
  • Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales
  • Cars 3
  • Doctor Strange
  • Thor: Ragnarok
  • Coco
  • Star Wars: The Last Jedi
  • Black Panther
  • A Wrinkle In Time
  • Avengers: Infinity War

For future reference, films debut on Disney Cruise Line the same day of their initial release in the United States. Films do vary by ship. Show times are available in your Personal Navigator or the official Disney Cruise Line app.

Captain’s Log: Important Tips and Information

Mother’s Day is upon us! If you are taking your mom on a cruise, you’ve probably already made her year and you don’t have to do much else to win the “Child of the Year” award. But if you want to seal the deal on your award, you can plus up her day in just the right way that suits her best. Disney Parks Blog has some great suggestions on what you can do for the leading lady of your family. From a treatment at the spa, to a champagne brunch, to a shopping spree, there’s so much you can do! Maybe a secret stateroom upgrade? If you really want to go all out, put her in a 1-bedroom concierge suite – she’ll thank you just based on the bathroom alone! But don’t discount the ways to make her day that won’t cost you an extra penny. My personal favorite thing to do is spend sunset out on deck 4, in one of those lovely teak lounge chairs with a glass of bubbly – my family could set me up there and I’d be in heaven! It’s all about finding the key to her heart! So who’s spoiling mom on a cruise this year? And who’s reading this now and booking a Mother’s Day cruise for next year???

Are you deciding whether to book a Disney Cruise but are having a tough time picking which ship fits all of your desires? Well, our own Laurel Stewart has put together a chart that makes it easy to compare all of the options in one place. Also available as a valuable planning and companion guide from authors Len Testa, Erin Foster, and Laurel Stewart is The Unofficial Guide to the Disney Cruise Line. The companion guide contains a complete overview of each Disney ship as well as Castaway Cay and includes valuable tips on how to save time and money during your cruise!

Special thanks Scott Sanders of The DCL Blog for assistance on this article!

Deck 4, sunset, hot, chocolatey, adult beverage from the Cove Cafe. I’ve mostly cruised to Alaska, so I lean toward warming drinks.
