Disney Turns on Geofencing for Most Magic Kingdom Resort Mobile Orders
Disney has changed mobile ordering for most Magic Kingdom resorts. In the past, anyone could place a mobile food order on the My Disney Experience app for any resort or park restaurant no matter where they were located in relation to the dining location. No longer – at least for a few spots.
As of the date of this post, guests will receive a “You’re Too Far Away” notice when trying to order from certain mobile order locations if they aren’t physically close by. This is just like the geofencing used when you’re trying to check in or join a walk-up list for a table service location in the parks or at the resorts.
We tested mobile order locations in all four parks and at resorts and the only places that presented the “You’re Too Far Away” notice were:
- Contempo Café at the Contemporary Resort
- Steakhouse 70 To Go at the Contemporary Resort
- Gasparilla Island Grill at the Grand Floridian
- Capt. Cook’s at the Polynesian
- Kona Café at the Polynesian
- Wailulu Bar & Grill To Go at the Polynesian
- Geyser Point Bar & Grill To Go at Wilderness Lodge
- Roaring Fork at Wilderness Lodge
Trail’s End Restaurant at Disney’s Fort Wilderness (a Magic Kingdom Resort) let us order without being close.
This change comes on the same day the bus and boat restrictions begin at Disney Springs.

May I suggest the ‘DVC Distance Test’? Can I be in my DVC room at Moorea, or the standalone building at Flo, or Bay Lake Tower – all outlying buildings – and order from their hotels’ respective counter service restaurants?

If you do not like this, search the play store (Android anyhow) for “fake GPS” app. It allows you to be anywhere you want as far as your phone is concerned.

How close did you have to be to NOT get that notice? Was it a certain number of feet? Or in the same building? Or just on that resort’s premises? For instance, could a person do it from their hotel room? Thanks!
Hi Sarah! You’ll need to be within a few yards. I’m not sure of the exact number but that’s a great question and something we’ll test. I remember being able to check in to the Crystal Palace as I was in front of the Emporium on Main Street a few weeks back. We’ll get you an accurate answer though! -Chrissy
