Disneyland Crowd Calendar Report – May 2021

Disneyland Resort has been reopened for 25 days and crowds are already starting to build. After opening to mostly crowd level ‘1’s and ‘2’s we have seen both Disneyland parks hit crowd levels between ‘3’ and ‘5’ each of the last three days. Is this a sign that things are returning to normal? Maybe.

Disneyland attendance is limited right now so the crowd levels we observe are determined by the number of people that Disney lets in and by the way that Disney loads those people onto its attractions. Remember that the Disneyland Crowd Calendar is a representation of the average posted wait time between 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. at a set of key attractions. When the attractions are loaded with empty seats and empty rows the wait times go up and so does the crowd level.

Since these crowd levels are so sensitive to the attendance controls we are updating the Crowd Calendar more regularly for shorter time periods. This update covers dates between now and July 1. Disneyland crowd levels will not change much on this update but Disney California Adventure will see most days go up to a ‘3’ or ‘4’. This reflects the trend we have seen in the past three weeks which we believe will continue until attendance limits are raised.

As always, we recommend reoptimizing your touring plans after a crowd calendar update (even though they may not change) and also on the morning that you arrive at the park.

  • Not sure if this is the best place to leave this. But Oct/Nov you predict a drastic difference in MK crowds between Wed and Thurs- 4 point drop- 5 to 1 or 6 to 2. I don’t see any event (after hours) that explains this. I was wondering what was the data basis for huge drop in wait times between Wed and Thurs MK in the fall (I was planning on going to MK on a Wednesday- but….). Thanks!
