The holiday season is upon us at Disneyland Resort! Read on to find out about this and more in this week’s Disneyland news.

Special Events and Notes

The winter holiday season ushers in the Festival of Holidays at Disney California Adventure, the celebration of holiday-themed food, drink, and entertainment! New this year is Mickey’s Happy Holidays, a twice daily parade/dance party of characters. Over at Disneyland Park, in addition to holiday decor galore, A Christmas Fantasy Parade and Believe… In Holiday Magic fireworks are now running nightly, and holiday merchandise is available for sale in the parks as well. In addition to the Festival and the special holiday shows, make sure you check out the ¡Viva Navidad! celebration featuring traditional costumes, music, and entertainment, and a street party with the Three Caballeros. Some attractions are also getting into the holiday spirit — in addition to Haunted Mansion Holiday, which continues, Carsland favorites transform to Luigi’s Joy to the Whirl and Mater’s Jingle Jamboree, and its a small world gets its annual holiday overlay. You can find more information about all of the holiday offerings here.

Are you looking forward to the sequel to Frozen? Guests experiencing Frozen — Live at the Hyperion will have an opportunity to check out a sneak peek of Frozen 2. Check it out and let us know what you think!

Disney+, Disney’s new streaming service has launched, and there will be pop-up locations in Downtown Disney where you can learn more about the service. You can find more details here.

Are you flying into LAX for your Disneyland trip? Be aware that LAX has a new process for travelers using rideshare apps like Uber and Lyft. Pickup no longer occurs curbside, it instead takes place in the “LAX-it” area near Terminal 1 (the Southwest terminal). There is a shuttle that will take travelers from their terminals to the pickup lot. Suffice it to say that you should budget a bit more time than you used to for getting out of the airport area. You can find more details here.

We’re predicting fairly light crowds this week, with only Thursday predicted higher than a level 4 (and even that might change with a decent chance of rain in the forecast).

This week presents the rare opportunity to actually say something meaningful about the weather, as it’s uncharacteristically variable.  The weekend is going to be HOT, with a high of 90 on Sunday. The latter part of the week, however, will be much cooler, with highs in the upper sixties and a significant chance of rain. Plan accordingly!

As always, it’s wise to double check the weather as the day of your visit approaches. Check out the most up-to-date forecast here.

From an entertainment standpoint, the main attractions are Disneyland’s holiday shows, like the new Mickey’s Happy Holidays parade at Disney’s California Adventure and Disneyland Park’s A Christmas Fantasy Parade and Believe… In Holiday Magic fireworks. Detailed show schedules, including smaller diversions like The Disneyland Band, can be found here. Note that Fantasmic! is not being shown during the week, and that with Disney’s California Adventure closing early on Thursday, there are no major shows scheduled there at all that day.

Fall refurbs have largely concluded, and everything is showing open this week at Disneyland Park. Over at California Adventure, the Red Car Trolley remains dark until next spring. As always, however, refurbishments can pop up unexpectedly, so check out our refurbishments page to make sure your favorite ride is still running, and for details on exactly what will be down and for how long.

That should do it for this week’s news. Check back next week and every week to find out what’s coming down the pike. Got questions? Aware of anything else that prospective guests should know about? Let us know in the comments.
