Veterans Day is Monday, and there’s lots of new stuff happening as Disneyland Resort gets ready for the holidays! Read on to find out about this and more in this week’s Disneyland news.

Special Events and Notes

A very special shout out to all of the veterans in our lives! This weekend is Veterans Day, and we’re expecting the parks to be fairly busy as people take advantage of the long weekend to visit Disneyland. It gives me a great opportunity to highlight the daily Flag Retreat Ceremony — they do it every day, and it’s a wonderful, worthwhile presentation. Make sure you check it out when you have the opportunity.

Also, it’s November, so Merry Christmas, everyone! That means it’s time for the Festival of Holidays at Disney California Adventure, the celebration of holiday-themed food, drink, and entertainment! New this year is Mickey’s Happy Holidays, a twice daily parade/dance party of characters. Over at Disneyland Park, in addition to holiday decor galore, A Christmas Fantasy Parade and Believe… In Holiday Magic fireworks are now running nightly, and holiday merchandise is available for sale in the parks as well. Preview some of the latest offerings here!

Are you looking forward to the sequel to Frozen? Guests experiencing Frozen — Live at the Hyperion will have an opportunity to check out a sneak peek of Frozen 2. Check it out and let us know what you think!

Disney+, Disney’s new streaming service, is also gearing up for its launch on November 12, and starting on that date, there will be pop-up locations in Downtown Disney where you can learn more about the service. You can find more details here.

Are you flying into LAX for your Disneyland trip? Be aware that LAX has a new process for travelers using rideshare apps like Uber and Lyft. Pickup no longer occurs curbside, it instead takes place in the “LAX-it” area near Terminal 1 (the Southwest terminal). There is a shuttle that will take travelers from their terminals to the pickup lot. Suffice it to say that you should budget a bit more time than you used to for getting out of the airport area. You can find more details here.

Crowds are predicted to be fairly high for the holiday weekend before tapering off to much lower levels as the week progresses.

For the most up-to-date numbers, check out our Crowd Calendar.

With the exception of a pretty hot Sunday, it should be a pretty pleasant, dry week, with highs between 76 and 82, and lots in the low 50s.

As always, it’s wise to double check the weather as the day of your visit approaches. Check out the most up-to-date forecast here.

From an entertainment standpoint, the main attractions are Disneyland’s holiday shows, like the new Mickey’s Happy Holidays parade at Disney’s California Adventure and Disneyland Park’s A Christmas Fantasy Parade and Believe… In Holiday Magic fireworks. Detailed show schedules, including smaller diversions like The Disneyland Band, can be found here. Note that with Monday being Veterans Day, there is a more robust show schedule than would ordinarily be expected.
