Disneyland Preview — Week of November 4

Christmas time is fast approaching at Disneyland (at least it’s starting to look that way from a decor standpoint)!  Also, we’ve got a few special events on tap this week. Read on to find out what to expect in this week’s Disneyland preview.

Special Events and Notes

Fun week at Disneyland, with a couple of unique experiences.  First up is Fall Dapper Day at Disneyland Park. For the uninitiated, Dapper Day is pretty much exactly what the name would suggest — a bunch of park guests, lookin’ dapper, kinda like if the Kentucky Derby were held at a theme park. It isn’t officially sanctioned by Disney and doesn’t typically add significantly to the waits (we’re predicting level 6 crowds), but it does add an interesting atmospheric to your park day. The Disneyland Hotel will be holding the Dapper Day Expo that weekend as well; check out the official site for details if you’re interested in attending the Expo.

The end of this week is the start of Super Heroes Half Marathon Weekend, with festivities kicking off on Thursday evening.  There is a 5K on Friday, a 10K on Saturday, and a half marathon on Sunday to wrap up the event.  Note that between the racers and the people there to support them, these races tend to draw large numbers of people to the resort, and the area may feel more crowded than the crowd levels (which are based on attraction wait times) would suggest.

Finally, Friday kicks off the holiday season at Disneyland Park in earnest.  The daytime parade switches over to A Christmas Fantasy Parade, Believe… In Holiday Magic takes over for the evening fireworks, and its a small world Holiday opens for the season.

Crowds shouldn’t be a huge issue most of the week. As per usual, the weekends will see the largest crowds, with the middle of the week having much lower numbers. As noted above, Dapper Day is Sunday, so the larger crowds will at least be well-dressed, and the end of the week marks the start of Super Heroes Half Marathon Weekend, so you can also expect more congestion around the resort at that time.

Full details, including park-by-park crowd levels, are available on our Crowd Calendar.

At long last, autumn has officially arrived in Anaheim.  Very pleasant, even cool temperatures this week, with highs in the upper 60s and low 70s.  Moreover, only a slight chance of rain throughout the week, so you should keep dry as well.

As always, it’s wise to double check the weather as the day of your visit approaches. Check out the most up-to-date forecast here.

Really light show schedule during the week — indeed, Monday through Thursday, the only show running at all is World of Color — with a full battery of shows on the weekend. Note that special holiday-themed shows will start their run at Disneyland Park on Friday. Detailed show schedules, including smaller productions like Storytelling at Royal Theatre, can be found here.
