Hotwire: Extending Your Deal
You’ve done your research.
You’ve booked your Hotwire deal.
Your bank account breathes a small sigh of relief, and you are now sitting on a lounge chair at Coronado Springs sipping something frothy to counteract the broiling location that you call vacation.
Did you know that once you book a Hotwire deal that you may have the opportunity to extend the dates at the same great hidden deal rate?
IF SO THEN WHY WOULD YOU GO HOME ALREADY?
FIDO IS IN A NICE KENNEL AND THAT EMAIL FROM HQ CAN WAIT.
Anyway: In general, if there are rooms available on Hotwire, go login and check your reservation.
DO IT NOW. (Ok, I’ll back off, sorry.)
Right down there at the bottom should be an “Add nights/room” button. Hmm, why don’t we click it?
Ooh, look! I can add up to 3 nights to my reservation – before OR after! (Can’t do both.) So, it turns out the number of nights you can add are equal to the number of nights that were in your original reservation.
If you read the fine print, as you should always do on these sites, there’s a good tip: You can add nights to the end of your stay all the way up to 10:00 a.m. on your checkout day. (Again, assuming there are rooms available.)
HEY ETHEL! ORDER TWO MORE CUCUMBER JALAPEÑO MARGARITAS!
is what my brain would say.
if I were traveling with some named Ethel.
and I yelled a lot.
Seems to me that is a nice perk to keep in your back pocket. Also, if you’ve booked at a time like the dark days of No Deal or No Deal 2021 and had to compromise on your length of stay due to limited availability, this seems to me like a nice way to get more days of great hidden deal rates when Hotwire is being stingy.
One last tip: If you do use this feature to add days to your reservation, remember that you can add a coupon in the last step of the checkout and once again shave some money off of the deal.
Right now the Hotwire code GO425 takes $25 off resorts with rates $200 or more. (That’s $25 off per cart, not per day, sadly.) Check out Retailmenot’s Hotwire page for the latest codes, or if you are using Microsoft Edge browser, let the automagic coupon code tool try all of the codes it knows. (It should pop up when you click in the code box.)
I hope this tip helps you extend your already great deal. If you’ve had any success with this feature – let us know in the comments!
