Pictures: Enchanted Tiki Room 50th Anniversary Exhibit Debuts At Disneyland
A new exhibit opened today at the Disney Gallery on Disneyland’s Main Street U.S.A. “Tiki Tiki Tiki Realms: Celebrating 50 Years of Enchantment” opened to honor the 50th anniversary of the beloved original Enchanted Tiki Room.
One of the centerpieces of the gallery is the original Barker Bird that appeared above the attractions entrance for the first few years after it opened.
Other artifacts from the attraction are also on display.
The rest of the exhibit features concept art created during the Enchanted Tiki Room’s design phase. Here is an incredible piece done by Disney Legend Herb Ryman.
Paintings by other legendary Disney artist Rolly Crump and John Hench are also featured.
A look at the other artwork shown in the exhibit.
The Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln attraction poster has been replaced by a post advertising the new exhibit.
A sign inside the gallery explains the history of the attraction.
A large assortment of merchandise is on sale to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Enchanted Tiki Room.
Most of it is not cheap. But at least it is high quality.
Pele and Uti tiki goddess statues. $99.95 each.
Enchanted Tiki Room Hawaiian shirt $79.99
Enchanted Tiki Room coaster set $29.95
Polynesian Resort Village “Luau Bowl” $49.95
For the big spenders, an original Shag painting for $16,000!
Or the slightly more affordable paper art sculpture for $850
The exhibit does not have an end date but Disney Gallery exhibits usually last about 6 months. Most of the merchandise is “open edition” so they aren’t extremely limited but Disney does not typically re-stock these kind of collectors items regularly.
Great photos Guy! Have all the exhibits formerly in the Opera House lobby — like the Disneyland opening day model — been removed?
