  • Laurel how was the shopping on at each port? We are planning on the Doubloon Turtle Cove Sail & Snorkel at St Thomas this Nov. Will I still be able to get some good shopping done afterwards? Thanks!

    • It was pretty good. I liked Philipsburg (St. Martin) more, but Len preferred Charlotte Amelie (St. Thomas). St. Martin was more hectic. St. Thomas has Gucci and Louis Vuitton right off the pier. The jewelry is the same is both ports. Dollars are welcome in both ports though the currency of St. Martin is actually the euro.

      • Ok, so what did you each buy in the respective ports? And from what I hear, the Louis Vuitton prices are the same as you would find in the U.S. The savings come from the break on taxes. Is that correct?

      • You are correct. The savings are due to the purchases being tax-free. I cruise often and don’t usually buy anything in port because I have better luck finding the styles I like stateside. FYI, the duty free allowance for USVI is $1600 as opposed to the $800 it is anywhere else in the Caribbean.

  • We’re planning a trip on the Disney Fantasy Itinerary B next December. I can’t seem to find any snorkel excursions that I can take my 4 year old on alongside her 10 and 7 year old siblings. do you know if there are beach and/or snorkel excursions, especially to St. John, that we can take all 3 kids? Thanks!

    • The 4 year old will be excluded from all the snorkeling adventures. Magen’s Bay Beach is all ages, but it’s basically just transportation to the beach. Ask at the Port Adventures desk when you arrive – new excursions are sometimes added at the last minute.
