Things Are About the Get More Magical With a Coco Update to Mickey’s PhilharMagic

This is awesome news! Mickey’s PhilharMagic is going to be getting an update! The popular 3D movie will soon be getting a new scene added themed after Pixar’s film, Coco!

This new scene will include the musical number “Un Poco Loco”. It will open first at Disney California Adventure and Disneyland Paris on July 17. It will then be added added to Magic Kingdom later this year during the Walt Disney World Resort 50th anniversary celebration.

The film’s music and characters will be combined with Donald Duck. This will be the very first time that both Pixar and Walt Disney Animation studio characters will appear together on screen. In addition, one of the film’s original composers, Germaine Franco, has produced a Coco score unique to Mickey’s PhilharMagic.

The best part? This scene won’t be replacing any of the current show scenes. So Guests will still be able to sing along to Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King, The Little Mermaid, and more. This new Coco scene will actually be added alongside the show’s current numbers.

Are you excited about this brand new scene for Mickey’s PhilharMagic?

  • Was there any news about cleaning up the print? I watched it last month and the visuals were pretty rough. The video was dark, murky, and seemed out-of-focus on the 3D effects. Disney did a clean-up of Muppets 4D a few years back, and it was a huge improvement.

    • No, but that’s not exactly the kind of thing they’d mention on the corporate-sanitized parks blog. I’d assume the whole movie will look fresh and new along with the new scene, but Disney would never advertise that because that would be an acknowledgement that the movie doesn’t look as good these days (and Disney marketing never, ever acknowledges negativity).

  • Can’t wait to see this – so glad it’s not replacing anything else as I really love all of this show.

  • Excited to see this!
