What a Slow Week for Travel News Looks Like

Since we have a little extra space in this week’s article, I thought we’d share some of the bottom-of-the-barrel topics that you get when travel reporters are traveling home to be with their families for the holidays. This week we saw travel articles on …

  • Carnival Cruise Line offering a Thanksgiving meal in their dining rooms on Thanksgiving
  • How to watch the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade
  • Two Seabourn cruise ships meeting in Antarctica for the first time

To be fair, articles like that last one aren’t so uncommon. But usually they’re spaced out with a lot more interesting stuff. Anyway, we hope you also are taking some time off this week and enjoying a few moments spent with family and friends.

Black Friday Deals for Travel

There were lots of great travel deals for Black Friday this year, and some of them are still going through the last week in November or early December. Hopefully you’re signed up for our newsletter and got your email on Thanksgiving night with our selection of some of the best. No? Sign up here. And don’t forget that for the general public there are current Disney World discounts that offer an extra 5% savings if you book by December 15. So if you’re thinking about a vacation for next year, it might be a good time to get cracking on that.

Win a Stay in Cinderella Castle Suite

Let us be serious. You can argue and argue but the best room at Disney World is the one in the castle. Right? Right. You know that’s right.

Well, the only way in is to win, and Disney has released another sweepstakes opportunity. Head on over to Disney’s Sweepstakes Entry page where you can enter your information and click submit for a single entry. Want more chances? You can watch a 1-ish minute video for 5 additional entries. Even more chances? Watch yet another 2-ish minute video for an additional 10 entries. That’s 16 in total, which is the maximum per person. But, everyone in your household can enter.

Cinderella in her Castle Suite © Disney (visit by Cinderella not included in prize, but you will see her at breakfast)

What will the lucky winner get?

  • Four-night accommodations in a One-Bedroom Preferred View Villa at Disney’s Riviera Resort
  • One-night accommodation at the Cinderella Castle Suite in the Magic Kingdom Park, with Breakfast at Cinderella’s Royal Table the following morning
  • Five 6-day theme park tickets with Park Hopper® Option.
  • Roundtrip airfare and ground transportation

Headline News Recap

The Data Dump doesn’t normally make the headline news, but this week Genie+ sold out on multiple days. If you want to see what it looks like when Thanksgiving crowds arrive, take a look: Disney Data Dump November 22 2023.

Festival of the Holidays starts today, and we’ll have some coverage this week. On your way for a visit and need a menu refresher? 2023 EPCOT Festival of the Holidays Menus.

She lives just north of Boston with her husband, kids, and assorted animal members of the family. Although it took three visits for the Disney bug to "take", she now really wishes she lived a lot closer to the Parks.
