Walt Disney World Ticket Price Increase

Today Walt Disney World increased ticket prices.

For those who are unaware, the Walt Disney World Resort uses date-based ticket pricing. With this system, Guests can purchase tickets using an interactive online calendar that displays different ticket prices based on the dates that Guests choose to visit the parks.

The starting price for a one-day ticket still remains at $109, and the most you’ll spend on a one-day ticket is still $159. A 10-day ticket now ranges from $52 per day to $67 per day.

Adding the Park Hopper option now increases the ticket price by $65-85 (an increase of $5), depending on ticket length. Here is the breakdown:

  • $65 per ticket for 1-day tickets
  • $75 per ticket for 2 to 3-day tickets
  • $85 per ticket for 4 to 10-day tickets

To add the Park Hopper Plus option, it’s $20 more than the Park Hopper on its own. (Park Hopper Plus gets you access to the water parks, Wide World of Sports, Disney’s Oak Trail Golf Course, Footgolf, NBA Experience, and the two mini golf courses.)

  • $85 per ticket for 1-day tickets
  • $95 per ticket for 2 to 3-day tickets
  • $105 per ticket for 4 to 10-day tickets

To purchase tickets, Guests will need to first choose the number of days they are looking to visit the parks. They will also need to choose the date they want their tickets to start (the first day you want to use your tickets) using an online interactive calendar. The calendar shows per-day pricing based on your start date and the length of ticket you will be purchasing.

Once your start date is selected, you’ll see the total cost for your tickets, as well as the date range for how long you’ll have to use your tickets. (The period of validity ranges from 4 days for 2-day tickets to 14 days for 10-day tickets, plus one additional day if you opt for Park Hopper Plus.) You’ll then be able to choose how many adult and child tickets to purchase. You can also choose to add on the Park Hopper, which allows you to go from park to park on the same day.

If by chance you need to change your tickets, you can do that! If you need to make any changes like a different date, upgrade to a Park Hopper, or add days to your ticket, you can easily do that, as long as it’s prior to the start date you selected. While there is not a specific change fee, you will have to pay any additional costs for tickets that cost more than what you initially paid. Also note that if you change to a day that actually offers cheaper tickets, you don’t get a refund or credit.

  • So yesterday (for my tickets) there were 2 price increases: 1) adding the hopper increased from $80 to $85 and 2) the price for that ticket for that specific day had increased by roughly $50. They still charged me the new price to upgrade my tickets of $85 per ticket, but they waived the $50+ per ticket that was due to the price increase for that specific date.

  • Scott, just to be clear, they let you upgrade for the old price? If you haven’t done it already, you may want to look through disboards or touringplans forum for a thread about ticket upgrades. The general rule used to be that, for whatever reason, if you upgrade before use, you would get credit for the price you actually paid, but if you upgraded after the ticket had been used (e.g., if you went to Guest Services after you used the ticket to enter a park), then you would get credit for the current price of the ticket. I’ve never done it, but there are detailed threads about exactly what to do.

  • I bought my original non hopper 6 day ticket in December. I had hoped to only need non hopper tickets and they fit better into my budget. But with the additional rides at HS we thought we could use 2 mornings there.

    The bummer for me was that I looked just last week and the price to upgrade was only $80 per ticket and yesterday it was $132.09 per ticket. So I had budgeted to upgrade 6 tickets at an additional $480, but yesterday it would have cost me $792.54 (an extra unbudgeted $312.54). All prices shown pre tax.
    Again, after a long phone call Disney did the right thing and I learned a lesson about Disney ticket price increases. Final note…… their people are so friendly with quotes like “I believe me and my pixie dust can resolve this issue for you Sir”.

  • How long ago did you purchase the original 6 day ticket?
    I’m not 100% sure in this case, but often any price increases that went into effect between the time you purchased and the time you make changes will be reflected in the new price difference. In addition to adding the $85 hopper, you may be also seeing increases to the individual days on your 6 day ticket that have been added since your purchase date.

    Unfortunately, that’s how many things work at WDW. You can lock in a lower price by buying early before some increase(s) but once you make any changes it will reset to current pricing. They’ve gotten me on resort packages this way.

  • Hi, Just wanted to provide an update. I called Disney today. They said the increase shown was due to 1) adding the hopper 2) the price for that day had increased. Anyways, 78 minutes into the phone call later and I am a happy customer. They sure seem to do the right thing.

  • So I have a March 15, 2020 6 day non park hopper ticket that I have been considering upgrading to the hopper ticket. When I looked last week it was $80 + Tax per ticket to upgrade to the hopper ticket on the Disney Experience App. After hearing about this price increase today, I looked again and the price is $132.09 + Tax. Does this make any sense? That is over a $50 per ticket increase. Thanks!

  • “Previously, all tickets were valid for 14 days from first use.” – that is not correct, unless by “previously” the author meant “before date-based pricing” previously and not “immediately before this price hike” previously.

    Also, the increase for parkhopper and parkhopper plus is $5/ticket.
