Youth Clubs Aboard The Disney Wonder

Have you booked a cruise on the Disney Wonder with your kids or are you just thinking about one? For a parent, one of the biggest concerns about cruising with children is whether there will be enough fun and entertaining things for the kiddos to do during the voyage. Rest assured, the Disney Cruise Line has got you covered! In part one of this two part series, I’ll share with you the information you’ll need to have a magical cruise with your kids aboard the Disney Wonder. In this article, we’ll take a look at the youth clubs available on the ship and in a second article posting soon, I’ll give you details on fun activities for the entire family to enjoy together. So let’s get started!

The Disney Wonder offers fantastic Disney-themed youth clubs for children of all ages.

Flounder’s Reef Nursery

The Basics
Ages: 3 and under
Hours: 9:00am – 11:00pm
Location: Deck 5, Aft
Cost: $9 per hour for first child, $8 per hour for second child in your family (prices subject to change)
Reservations/Registration/Check In: The nursery fills up very quickly and should be reserved in advance. Concierge and Platinum Castaway Club Guests may book 120 days in advance, Gold Castaway Club Guests may book 105 days in advance, Silver Castaway Club Guests may book 90 days in advance, and first time cruisers may book 75 days in advance.
What To Bring: Parents should bring diapers/pull ups, wipes, baby food, formula/milk, bottles, change of clothes, and blanket.

What’s It Like?
Flounder’s Reef Nursery has an under-the-sea theme and is beautifully decorated with adorable sea creatures, bubbles, and waves. It is divided into two rooms — one for play and one for quiet time. The nursery offers a television, DVD player, infant swings, and cribs. Activities include games, books, movies, arts, crafts, and more.

Disney’s Oceaneer Club

The Basics
Ages: 3 to 12 years old
Hours: 9:00am to midnight
Location: Deck 5, Midship
Cost: None
Reservations/Registration/Check In: Reservations are not needed for the Oceaneer Club. You can register your children for the club at the terminal or once onboard the ship. Parents and children will check in at the Oceaneer Club to fill out the final paperwork and pick up the child’s wristband that indicates they are part of the youth club.

What’s It Like?
Disney’s Oceaneer Club is designed to look like Captain Hook’s pirate ship straight out the classic film Peter Pan. Complete with wooden planks, treasure chest, and a starry sky, your little adventurer will love it! The club offers a stage, dress-up room, computer lab, dance floor, napping mats, arts and crafts stations, and televisions. In addition to free play, there are themed activities and occasional character visits. Children can even enjoy their lunch or dinner at the Oceaneer Club during their visit.

Disney’s Oceaneer Lab

The Basics
Ages: 3 to 12 years old
Hours: 9:00am to midnight
Location: Deck 5, Midship
Cost: None
Reservations/Registration/Check In: Reservations are not needed for the Oceaneer Lab. You can register your children for the lab at the terminal or once onboard the ship. Parents and children will check in at the Oceaneer Lab to fill out the final paperwork and pick up the child’s wristband that indicates they are part of the youth club.

What’s It Like?
Disney’s Oceaneer Lab has a space-age theme and features many characters from Toy Story including everyone’s favorite – Buzz Lightyear. Decorated with planets and stars, the lab will be a big hit with the kids! The lab offers computers, televisions, a reading area, lounge, science lab, games, and toys . In addition to free play, there are themed activities and character visits. Children can enjoy their lunch or dinner at the Oceaneer Lab during their visit as well.

Edge

The Basics
Ages: 11 to 14 years old
Hours: 9:00am to midnight
Location: Deck 2, Midship
Cost: None
Reservations/Registration/Check In: Reservations, registration, and check in are not required for Edge.

What’s It Like?
Edge is set up like a comfortable lounge complete with cozy couches and plush chairs. The space offers arts and crafts, video games, computers, televisions, and karaoke machines. There are also themed activities and challenges that get the kids out and about around the ship. If your child thinks they may want to participate in Edge activities sometime during the cruise, it is always a good idea for them to attend the first evening when many friendships are made. They may feel it is harder to join in later if they don’t take part in the initial ice breaker activities.

Vibe

The Basics
Ages: 14 to 17 years old
Hours: 11:00am to 2:00am
Location: Deck 11, Midship
Cost: None
Reservations/Registration/Check In: Reservations, registration, and check in are not required for Vibe.

What’s It Like?
Vibe is designed like an urban coffee house filled with plush couches and comfortable chairs. The location offers board games, video games, televisions, DVD players, a dance floor, and a full bar that sells non-alcoholic beverages and smoothies for an additional fee. The club is host to many activities that teens will enjoy like dance parties and karaoke. Just like Edge, it is a great idea to have teens who plan to spend time in the club, visit Vibe the first night of the cruise to meet up with fellow teen cruisers.

With all of these imaginative youth clubs, you can be assured that your children will have plenty of entertaining and educational things to experience during your cruise.
