Summary
The ESPN Zone is a three-ring circus—food and beverages oozing from every corner, more televised sports feeds than you can count, and an interactive game zone. Kids will love the manic pace and endless ways to spend more of your money, as well as the kid-friendly fare. Even teens will have a reason to smile here (hoops, a batting cage, and a climbing wall). And adults won’t feel guilty over letting the youngsters run amok while they soak up quite possibly the largest televised sports feed on the planet. The food’s improved, the service is steady (patient if not a little distracted at times), and you may find yourself in the studio audience for one of the many taped and live sports broadcasts produced right in front of you. When local teams (Lakers, Dodgers, Kings, Angels, Clippers, or Galaxy) are being televised, waits for tables can be excruciatingly long, even with reservations.
Setting and Atmosphere
Maybe the most entertaining place outside the park walls, with a little something for everyone except the very youngest, the ESPN Zone is a massive, two-story sports enthusiast’s dream. Huge flat-panel TVs are everywhere, and there’s not a bad seat in the house. There’s also a TV and radio broadcast facility inside (from which you can catch live broadcasts, especially when the local teams are playing), as well as a massive game and interactive sports arcade.
House Specialties
A variety of sliders (three little sandwiches such as cheeseburgers and barbecued pork) and the barbecued baby back ribs. Salads are fresher and livelier than they have been in the past.
Other Recommendations
Most of what comes off the grill or as a sandwich or appetizer is a safe bet. The more complicated the dish, the more likely it won’t measure up to expectations. Wings, burgers, sliders, and a surprisingly good mahimahi tostada rank as your best options.
