10 Things You Cannot Bring Into a Disney World Park
If you haven’t visited Walt Disney World before (or in a long while), it may be a good idea to scan this list before you start packing. These are ten items that we see or hear about getting flagged regularly at Disney World security checkpoints. As a reminder, you will have to go through security before entering any of the four parks.
- Wagons: We see wagons get turned away multiple times a week. The only exception to the “no wagons” rule is for guests requiring a wagon for a disability or medical accommodation, and those must be approved through Guest Relations.
- Luggage: Suitcases, bags, coolers, or backpacks larger than 24 inches long x 15 inches wide x 18 inches high are not allowed on Disney transportation (excluding Minnie Vans) or inside Disney theme parks.
- Loose ice: You may bring a cooler of appropriate size into the parks, but loose ice, like the kind you’d get from a resort ice machine, is not allowed. Dry ice is also prohibited. Ice packs are allowed.
- Alcohol: Alcohol is not allowed through security and open containers of alcohol and alcoholic beverages are not permitted as you exit a theme park. For example, if you haven’t finished your Violet Sake, you will need to discard or finish your beverage before you exit EPCOT. You may carry your newly purchased, unopened bottle of sake through the EPCOT exit, but you won’t be allowed to bring it into another park.
- Drones: There is only ever a rule because someone tried it, right? No drones.
- Toy weapons: This one is a little odd because you can buy a toy scabbard at the exit to Pirates of the Caribbean, and you can carry it from park to park, but other toys that appear to be weapons are banned. This includes anything that resembles a gun. Finally, you are welcome to purchase real swords and knives in the U.K. pavilion of EPCOT, but you won’t leave with your purchase. The Cast Members in the pavilion will ship your purchases for you.
- Real weapons: You’d think this would be obvious, but it sure isn’t. This rule includes guns, knives, mace, pepper spray, handcuffs, etc. I’ve personally seen a large gallon storage bag of heavy duty zip ties get confiscated at Magic Kingdom security. I still wonder what that one was about.
- Chairs or benches: Could you imagine the front of Cinderella Castle during fireworks if we were allowed to bring in our camping chairs?!? I’d be the first to have one of those swinging ones with the umbrella and a fan!
- Whistles or Horns: This one makes sense, right? It would likely make tour groups easier to manage, but I love this rule.
- Speakers: Any object like a megaphone or bullhorn is, thankfully, prohibited. This one could go with #9, except that we’ve witnessed folks trying to amplify their personal playlist in the parks.
Attempting to bring most of these into the parks will simply get you a return trip to your car to store the offending item. A few of them could mean a ban from the parks and a conversation with law enforcement.
What item is currently allowed in the parks that you wish would make the banned list?

Regarding rule 3 and loose ice: You CAN bring in a ziploc style bag of loose ice – because now it is not loose! People do this all the time.
I’m not trying to tell people how to break a rule, rather how to bring in ice from a resort ice machine so they have a method to keep things cold – especially since standard rooms do not have a fridge with a freezer to refreeze ice packs.
