It’s been rumored for months. I mean, even when you visit Disney’s Animal Kingdom, you can see the construction underway near Tusker House.

However, today, it was officially announced by the Disney Parks Blog that the Festival of the Lion King is going to move from its current location in Camp Minnie-Mickey to a new home over in the Africa section of the park. (Of course, rumors are indicating that this move is being done because Camp Minnie-Mickey is set to be the home of Avatar when construction starts on that project.)

The show should remain intact as the same spectacular stage show with amazing singing and talented performers that we have come to know and love. The new theater is expected to open sometime in 2014. We’ll keep you posted as we find out more!

  • Am I the only one who thinks they should look at this as an opportunity to do something new there? At least couldn’t they do a Lion King stage show similar to Aladdin at California Adventure?

  • Good to hear, I still think Avatar is a bad choice, the only reason that movie did so well is the 3D, can anybody even name a charachter?

  • The theater must be supported couple more places and spaces like these are built, to offer new players the opportunity to develop their skills and knowledge in real settings and recognized.
