A few years ago, the Magic Kingdom rolled out the Tomorrowland Terrace Dessert Party, which takes place at the Tomorrowland Terrace on select nights. The party offers Guests the opportunity to enjoy delicious treats and beverages in a buffet setting, as well as having a private viewing area to in which to catch Wishes. (Before the dessert party took over, this was always a favorite spot of mine to view Wishes from.)

Guess I’m not getting my favorite spot back any time soon because beginning July 5, Disney is revamping and enhancing this special dessert party, renaming it the Wishes Dessert Party. (Gotta make it simple.) The party will include desserts such as chocolate-dipped strawberries, chocolate mousse, seasonal fruits and cheeses, Disney character-themed cupcakes, ice cream and more. Guests can also enjoy hot chocolate, signature lemonades, coffee, and tea.  Then as the fireworks begin, there will be a sparkling cider toast.

Also changing…the cost. The price will double, with it now costing $49.00 per adult (ages 10 and up) and $29.00 per child (ages 3-9) and includes tax. (Previous cost of the Tomorrowland Terrace Dessert Party was $25.99 for adults and $13.99 for kids.)

Reservations for the Wishes Dessert Party can begin to be made tomorrow, March 20 at DisneyWorld.com/Dine.

  • Absurd. For comparison, the 3D Dessert Discovery Party during Food & Wine, for $9 more, includes unlimited drinks, a number of unique cooked-to-order desserts (like the flambeed donut sundae!), about 10 times the variety, and you get reserved seating for Illuminations. That was worth the splurge. This isn’t.

    • Shhhh…. don’t tell Disney or they’ll raise the price of that too

  • I enjoyed the way it was. It was a nice little extra thing to do on vacation, but to double the price and really only add table cloths!! I will not be going again.

  • There are not words to explain how disappointed I am at this change. We LOVED the dessert party the way it was and this new change sounds more like the Epcot version that we do not find appealing at all. Curse you Disney!

  • We did this a couple of years ago – to kick off our vacation. We all enjoyed it very much and thought the desserts were tasty! Tinkerbell right overhead — goosebumps! Incredibly special!
It was one of those things you do once and remember it forever. But even at the lower prices, we wouldn’t have done it again. It was super fun and quite special — but the view of the fireworks and the castle wasn’t great. It was ok, but I’d rather have seen everything from the front, to get the full effect of the symmetry. We couldn’t always see what was happening with the lightshow on the castle, due to the angled view.

  • I sense a great disturbance in the force. It’s as if millions of voices cried out at once and said, “Enough already with the price-gouging!”

  • I’m not going to lie I definitely said some expletives pretty loudly when I read the price increase. This is ABSURD! It is astounding how nakedly greedy Disney is being. I had never really entertained the idea of doing this experience and now I for sure will not ever be doing this now.

  • I so wanted to do this experience and I am soooooooo glad I managed to book it on our last trip – only 2 of us were there. I have sort of promised to book it again when we go next to WDW when there will be 5 of us – but I have just changed my mind!!! I think I might buy a big cake and a bottle of wine and take us all to the Polynesian beach where we see the fireworks and the Electrical Water Pageant as well!!! I know the view of the fireworks wouldn’t be as good and Tinkerbell wouldn’t fly over my head (which is mainly what you are paying for) but for me not $250 better. Just wondering what other experiences I need to do before they go the same way!!!!

  • I’m glad we did this on our last trip. I didn’t think it was good value then. I KNOW it won’t be now. The desserts were mediocre at best, and while I do appreciate that I was paying mostly rental on the table in Tomorrowland Terrace, there’s no way that constitutes value at $200 for my family of 4.

  • $50.00 to eat dessert? As someone who always skips desserts, this had little appeal to me before, now it has no appeal. Now, if they did an appetizer party, I might rethink. Wait, at that price, I don’t even need to rethink. At half the price I would do appetizers, but not at that price.

  • You know, it’s gotten to the point at which I simply read these kinds of articles so I can laugh at the people that keep blindly throwing money into the pit. Wow, $40 for $7 worth of pre-made desserts? Not here, guys 🙂

  • Sounds like the desserts are getting worse and the price is inflated because disney can. I liked it before, but not going to pay that now. For the same price, I’m more inclined to watch illuminations and get booze
