REVIEW – New Princess Tiana and Joe Gardner Soulfully Cakes Are Good For The Soul

Amorette’s Patisserie does it again! Two new petit cakes have just debuted, this time in celebration of Black History Month as part of Disney Springs Soulfully Celebration. We love checking out the seasonal flavors of Petit Cakes that Amorette’s offers throughout the year, and the two Soulfully cakes are at the top of our list.

A Tiana-themed cake, from The Princess and the Frog, and a Joe Gardner cake, from the movie Soul, are available. Both have incredible detail and beautiful decoration. Both cakes are the same flavor: Layers of  Chocolate Chiffon Cake, Dark Chocolate Mousse, Raspberry Pate De Fruit Jelly, Raspberry Mousse, and Chocolate Crisp Pearls. The $20.00 price tag is a little steep, but it seems that’s the new standard price for Amorette’s seasonal cakes.

The Princess Tiana cake is so beautiful. It is modeled after her signature dress and is sure to please any fan of hers. The “Soul” Joe Gardner cake is also wonderfully decorated, with a music motif, of course. This would make a thoughtful music teacher gift. Both cakes are boxed up and placed in a themed bag, making for a great presentation.

Chrissy taste tested both cakes for us and remarks that each flavor is well executed. So many Disney desserts can have dry cake since they are made ahead of time and placed in a chiller. This is not the case with these cakes. Both were moist and flavorful, and not overly sweet. The fruit layers were the highlight.

  • The Tiana cake was absolutely fantastic. I have never been a fan of cake or cupcakes in general, especially at Disney, due to the hyper-sweetness. This may have been the best cake I have ever had!
