Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit Closing – Here’s What to Know
Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit closes forever this coming Sunday. As we say one last hasta to this iconic attraction, we look at how this closure will impact your visit to the parks.

When Does Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit Close?
Hollywood Rip Ride Rocket’s final day of operation is August 17, 2025, and it will be fully closed on August 18, 2025. Demolition is likely to begin immediately after closing.
What is Replacing It?
Universal says that a “new experience” is coming, and details will come at “a later date”. Permits point to a new rollercoaster designed by the firm Intamin (the folks behind Hagrid and VelociCoaster at IOA) that will be located roughly in the same area as HRRR’s existing footprint. Alicia Stella at Orlando Park Stop believes this new rollercoaster is similar to the upcoming Fast & Furious Hollywood Drift coaster opening at the sister Universal Studios Hollywood park.

How Does This Affect My Touring Plan?
We advise riding HRRR in the morning, either immediately after experiencing Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts with Early Entry, to immediately after Despicable Me Minion Mayhem if touring without Early Entry. When you reach HRRR in your touring plan, skip HRRR and proceed to the next step in your plan, most likely Transformers: The Ride.
What Rides Are Similar to Rip Ride Rockit?
Roller coaster fans looking for a replacement ride should check out Revenge of the Mummy next door in Universal Studios Florida. Mummy is an indoor coaster with a launched lift hill that swoops and dives through a darkened space, it is one of our favorite rides at any park. If you can parkhop to Islands of Adventure then check out The Incredible Hulk Coaster and Jurassic World VelociCoaster, two intense launched coasters with inversions that will satisfy your need for speed.

How Will This Affect Wait Times?
We’re expecting wait times to increase at all attractions while HRRR is down. According to our crack research team, the hourly capacity of HRRR is 1500 guests an hour. Without the weenie pulling guests to the attraction at opening, we expect more guests will go to Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts (the most popular attraction) and Revenge of the Mummy (the closest coaster to the park entrance), and thus increase wait times at those attractions.
