Review: Goshiki at Festival of the Arts

EPCOT’s Festival of the Arts began yesterday and we took a few breaks from playing Disney Lorcana so we could check out some of the new menu items.

There are three new menu items on offer for Festival of the Arts this year, with the Sushi Doughnut as the only returning item.

Wagyu Bun at Goshiki

Wagyu Bun, $10.75 –

Steamed Bun filled with Sweet-and-Savory Minced American Wagyu Beef

This pretty package was so popular that it sold out early on opening day of the festival. We kept checking back until we were able to snag one and it was worth the wait. The price tag of nearly $11 gives us pause, though. It was tasty and had more filling than we’ve come to expect at this festival kitchen, but the price point is on the high end for us. This would be a good use of a Disney Dining Plan Snack Credit if you enjoy these flavors.

Taiyaki

Taiyaki, $7.75

Crisp, Flaky Fish-shaped Chocolate-flavored Pastry filled with Custard and served with Whipped Topping

We’ve got no qualms about recommending this sweet treat because it’s fun, tasty, and priced well. The custard is just sweet enough, and the pastry is nicely baked, which is not always the case with chocolate dough.

Tokyo Kawaii Roll

Tokyo Kawaii Roll, $9.75

Crispy Shrimp Tempura wrapped in Multicolor Sushi Rice and topped with Refreshing Yellow Yuzu Sauce and Tangy Plum Sauce

Cute, indeed! This is a decent tempura roll that happens to be pretty enough for any Instagram story. We’d love more of the plum sauce, too!

Sushi Doughnut

Sushi Doughnut, $8.75

Doughnut-shaped Sushi with Salmon, Tuna, Shrimp, Cucumber, and Sesame Seeds over a decorated plate of Wasabi Aïoli, Sriracha Aïoli, and Eel Sauce

The Sushi Doughnut is back year after year for a reason. It has popular sushi, a lovely presentation, and some great sauces. Even the price is reasonable for the portion size. Always a yes.

Overall, we’d suggest making time for Goshiki if you’re headed to Festival of the Arts before it ends on February 23rd.

  • What a great roundup of the new Goshiki menu! This really helps with planning, especially the detailed notes on the Disney Dining Plan. I was most intrigued by the Tokyo Kawaii Roll—the combo of yuzu and plum sauce sounds fantastic, but your review made me crave even more of that plum flavor.

For anyone who has already tried these new items at the festival this year, which one would you say was the biggest crowd-pleaser, or had the best flavor-to-price ratio beyond the beloved Sushi Doughnut?
