New Moroccan Band Debuts at Epcot
Another act has officially debuted for Epcot’s World Showcase: a new Moroccan performance group called B’net Al Houwariyate. The group is an internationally-acclaimed ensemble of female performers, who play traditional instruments while dancing and performing songs that are based on Moroccan traditions. Musical styles include Berber chants, urban Marrakesh beats, and Andalucian rhythms.
B’net Al Houwariyate will appear on the stage located at the Morocco Pavilion on Sundays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. Shows last for approximately 20 minutes and will take place at 1:00 p.m., 2:30 p.m., 3:15 p.m., 4:45 p.m., 5:45 p.m., 6:30 p.m., and 7:45 p.m.
The musical group replaces MO’ROCKIN, who could previously be found playing in the Morocco Pavilion.
This is the third act to debut in the shake up of World Showcase performers; the first act is known as the Canadian Lumberjack Show, debuting on October 5 at the Canada Pavilion, and the second was a flag throwing troupe called Sbandieratori Di Sansepolcro,who began performing on October 17 in the Italy Pavilion. The fourth and final act set to debut is a Celtic folk music ensemble for the United Kingdom Pavilion. There is no official debut date currently set for this performance troupe.

We saw them this weekend. We wanted to give them a fair chance but it was terrible.
I saw them playing some Greek music. They need to at least acknowledge when it isn’t Moroccan. Just saying
We caught some of their act yesterday. It was okay, but myself and my family enjoyed Mo’Rockin more.
I actually saw their trial performance on October 27th. Disney suits were there and about 20 of the stage crew members who would be handling their sound and lighting were in attendance. B’net Al Houwariyate came out chanting and it just grabbed our full attention. It was a really exciting and cultural experience from the start.
Even the Moroccan pavilion workers were excited by the performance. About 15 of them came to the front of the stage and danced. It was an impromptu street party.
I wish this new group much luck. I think they are a very respectable replacement for Mo’Rockin.
Now let’s talk about those lumberjacks…
I agree! We saw them on the 28th and they attracted a large group of people watching and dancing. It was fun to watch the other Moroccan CMs. When the band started they gathered outside Spice Road to watch. Not long and they were dancing. Then they moved closer. By the end they were all over dancing and enjoy the music. I enjoyed it because they enjoyed it so much.
