Easter Happenings at Walt Disney World for 2015

Can you believe it? Easter is just a week and a half away! Wow has time flown.

With Easter upon us, I wanted to share a few things that those of you traveling down during the next couple of weeks may want to take advantage of!

First, for those visiting the Magic Kingdom, you’ll be able to meet Mr. and Mrs. Easter Bunny! The duo have hopped over to the Main Street U.S.A.’s Town Square Courtyard at the Bunny Lane Garden, located next to City Hall. They can be found meeting guests from 9:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. and guests will receive a pre-autographed card before they exit. Mr. and Mrs. Easter Bunny will be at the Magic Kingdom through April 5.

In addition, there will be a special Easter pre-parade that will take place before each showing of the Disney Festival of Fantasy Parade. (Remember, there are two showings of Festival of Fantasy–one at 12:00 p.m. and one at 3:00 p.m.) The pre-parade will take place at 11:45 a.m. and at 2:45 p.m. and will include special Disney character, Mr. and Mrs. Easter Bunny, and the Azalea Trail Maids. This pre-parade will be offered on both Saturday and Sunday.

As I’ve previously mentioned, at Epcot, they will be holding the popular Disney Egg-stravaganza Easter Egg Hunt. Guests will be able to explore World Showcase with a specially-themed map in hand, searching for decorative eggs themed to Disney Characters. They should then place the corresponding egg sticker on the map to represent that location. Maps and stickers may be purchased for $4.95 (plus tax) and when guests are finished, they may return the map to claim a surprise gift. The fun kicks off on March 27 and lasts through April 5.

Also returning this year will be the Easter Egg hunts and Egg Relays, which will take place in the United Kingdom Pavilion on Easter Sunday. The Easter Egg hunts, which will take place every 10 minutes, from 11:00 a.m. until 3:30 p.m., will be open to guests ages 3 to 9. The Easter Egg Relay will take place beginning at 11:40 a.m. and will occur every 40 minutes, with the final relay beginning at 3:40 p.m. The Easter Egg Relay is slated for children ages 8 to 12. In addition, there will also be a smaller Easter Egg Hunt for those younger than 3. Guests will also have the opportunity to meet Mr. and Mrs. Easter Bunny from 11:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.

One really cool experience celebrating the Easter holiday takes place at Disney’s Grand Floridan Resort. Here, Disney pastry chefs create gorgeous works of art courtesy of enormous hand-painted, hand-carved, and decorated chocolate eggs. These eggs are able to be seen scattered throughout the Grand Floridian’s lobby and I love how creative they can become; some are Disney related and some are unique creations. For those who are maybe looking for somewhere to dine and in case you don’t have your reservations yet, I do have a few suggestions! Four locations are slated to offer an Easter Sunday feast. They include: Cape May Cafe, Captain’s Grille, Chef Mickey’s, and The Wave…of American Flavors.

In addition, Disney will be offering two special brunch buffet options only for guests staying at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel.  At Disney’s Contemporary Resort, brunch will take place in the Ballroom of the Americas from 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m., 12:00 p.m. until 1:30 p.m., and 2:00 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. At the brunch, guests will be able to meet Thumper and Miss Bunny.

At Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort, in that Grand Floridian Ballroom, seating times will include 10:30 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., 12:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., or 2:30 p.m. until 4:00 p.m.  Guests will be able to meet Mr. and Mrs. Easter Bunny.

Both meals will cost is $49.00 (ages 10+) and $27.00 (ages 3-9). Prices include tax and gratuity. The brunch buffet includes unlimited coffee, hot tea and iced tea. Mimosas and Bloody Marys may be purchased separately. For those interested in attending, the brunch can be booked at the resort concierge desk.

In addition, for those of you who are looking to attend an Easter church service, there are a few options, right on Disney property at Disney’s Contemporary Resort. The service times are:

• Catholic Mass – 8:00 a.m. and 10:15 a.m.
• Protestant Service – 9:00 a.m.

Do keep in mind that parking at the Contemporary will be restricted to only resort guests, so those who wish to attend one of the services should take Disney transportation.

If you are celebrating Easter at Walt Disney World, remember that the parks will be extremely busy, so be courteous. Smart advice says to get to the parks early and use a Touring Plan.
