Additional Details About the Royal Sommerhaus in the Norway Pavilion

A few months back, details were released about what Guests will be able to expect with the upcoming Frozen Ever After attraction, but only a cursory mention was made about the Frozen meet and greet opportunity, called Royal Sommerhaus.

Well, during The D23 Expo, Disney Imagineer Kathy Mangum spoke about the upcoming Frozen attraction, as well as gave a few more details about the Royal Sommerhaus, plus we received a look at the concept art.

The meet and greet will take place in a charming cabin, where guests will be able to meet Anna and Elsa. Disney is taking the theming seriously, as the cabin will be based on an actual historic log cabin that is found in Norway. Matter of fact, Imagineers were actually sent to Norway to make sure that the new addition will be authentic.  Based off of the concept art, it does feel as though it will have a very rustic vibe.

The new meet and greet is currently being constructed to the side closest to the Mexico Pavilion.  You can see the Stave Church in the background, and if you keep walking forward into the photo, you would end up in the Norway Pavilion proper.

Disney knows that many question the addition of Frozen to the Norway Pavilion and the one thing that they seem to be stressing according to Ms. Mangum is “We’re confident that this attraction will bring more guests to the Norway pavilion and increase their interest and knowledge of Scandinavian culture, just as the World Showcase was intended to do.”

Disney has not announced an opening date for either the Royal Sommerhaus or Frozen Ever After, but they are expected to open in 2016.
