A Flurry of Hot DVC Rentals

If you’ve been dreaming of hot prices in a cool setting – now might be the time to look at a nicely discounted flurry of dedicated Disney Vacation Club (DVC) rentals out there between now and January, 2024.

If you’re new to these DVC Rental posts, we’ve been gathering all of the dedicated (aka pre-booked) DVC rental data we could find to help sort through and find the best deals on rentals out there. A Rentalversary

Before we point out what we think are best best deals, let’s look at where things stand. It has now been a full year of gathering this data and we’ve captured more than 16,000 unique rentals. Right now there are just over 2,400 dedicated DVC rentals active out there on the sites we reference.

As new data arrives, we keep a running tally of the median price for each resort and room type combination to help us guide you to the best savings opportunities in the weekly DVC Rental Deals page we publish for Touring Plans subscribers.  You’ll see a sample of those deals below, so if you are not a subscriber and are hoping to grab a fistful of savings – you can click here to subscribe.

By crunching the numbers, we’re able to pick out the some of the biggest discounts that pop up – if you look at this summary chart of active DVC rentals 2 days or longer, we’re talking about the ones to the left the of -20% below median bar.

But, maybe that chart is a little generic for most of us. How do these handpicked deals compare to all dedicated rentals? Lets take a look at all of the Old Key West studios we’ve found over the last year. In this chart, every dot is a rental. To help highlight an example deal, I’ve picked one of the latest bestest ones: a 2-night rental on September 27th for an incredible $171 per night.

(It is worth pointing out, that when taking taxes into account, that is equivalent to a cash rate of about $152 per night if booking this same room directly from Disney.)

The horizontal green bar in the chart runs along that $171/night price, and the vertical red bars highlight that start date for both this and last year.

The orange line in the chart is the calculated median for all of these rentals – meaning half of the rentals are priced above and half are price below. You can see some expected higher prices for holidays, such as those dots reaching way up each December, and the higher clusters in the Spring break time frame.

Now, check out that red circle – that’s the $171 per night studio rental that’s out there right now! Hopefully, this chart makes it obvious that these handpicked rentals are among the best deals you might see for a deluxe Disney resort room.

But, that’s sure a LOT of dots, ain’t they? Let’s try one more chart before we get to the deals we want to highlight.

Here we’re counting how often prices of dedicated rentals occur in $25 increments. By far, the most common prices for Old Key West DVC studios fall between $260 and $360 per night. (Again, the orange line is the median price.) Where did this $171 rental fall? It slid all the way down the left side of that curve to the green dotted line.

I can tell you, if I’m renting a DVC studio, I sure want to be at the left side of that chart if possible – There be deals there!

What’s Up, er Down Now?

Over the last several weeks, we’ve seen a steady stream of discounted rentals appearing from June through September – as well as way out in January 2024!

These better-priced rentals do tend to come and go quickly, so again, it is worth checking out our DVC Rental Deals page each week to catch them.

Here’s a visual of this flurry deals – you can see there are several available for many resorts, including the often elusive Beach Club Villas. As of now, Old Key West is the leader with 17 active rentals priced more than 20% below the median.

Remember, these are all unique dedicated rentals. Once they are taken you’ll have to sob into your commemorative 50th anniversary pillow until another one you like shows up, so don’t Disney dally!
