#AskIt – Character Dining at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge
The Disney Parks Blog announced last month that Artist Point at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge will be transitioning from a Signature experience to Character Dining. The last night for Artist Point is November 10. It will reopen as Storybook Dining at Artist Point “this winter.” It has not been announced what will happen to Territory Lounge (a favorite with locals and Wilderness Lodge guests) or if the new dining will be considered signature (2 credit) under Disney’s dining plans.
Storybook Dining will feature Snow White, perhaps best known for her breakthrough performance in the Pacific Northwest classic Snow White Meets Sasquatch, and assorted dwarfs (now called the Oklahoma City Thunder). Service will begin with dinner only, though if it’s popular more meals could be added.
This will leave Wilderness Lodge with no adult fine dining option.
So now that the you’ve had time to consider this change, we’re asking:

Honestly, I’m more concerned about the bar outside of Artist Point. That’s a wonderful refuge from the theme park with great food, comfy seats and great service. With character dining so close, it may lose it’s peacefulness.
I only ate at Artist Point once and was not impressed so it does not sadden me to see this restaurant change directions. However, I don’t think I will visit for a character experience (my kids are teens but even when they were little, Snow White was not a favorite so we would have been unlikely to visit even if that had been an option.)
Will have to wait and see how this works out. Artist Point has always had mixed reviews, let’s see if this changes that one way or another.
For as many times that we’ve stayed at Wilderness Lodge, we’ve always gone over to the Grand Floridian for our fine dining. So I say, “Bring on the Storybook characters to Wilderness Lodge.” I’d love to see Snow White and Grumpy, my favorite Dwarf at WL
I’m sort of excited because it would be a good time to get pictures with Dopey after Dopey in January. I’d like to know what the menu and price point are. Those will also influence my decision to eat there. I’m sort of in the camp of why Artist point and not Whispering Canyon (or a different hotel all together).
We are in the minority- very excited at idea of signature dining with characters. Hoping they keep food quality high. We are staying at WL and what a great way to spend a quiet evening.
My family would probably take character dining over signature dining (the kids especially) so we are excited about this change. With that said, I do wonder why they didnt leave dinner alone and just add a character breakfast. It’s really too bad for those that would prefer signature dining.
I think they should make it for lunch or breakfast if they want a character meal. Artist Point was one of the few uncrowded, quiet restaurants left in WDW.
I think that a signature character dining experience would be an interesting experiment, I will like to see how they do it. I just hope that they keep the signature feel of the meal, and that it doesn’t deteriorate into something like Chef Mickey’s with a much more casual feel.
