Classic Star Wars Characters and Soundtrack Joining Galaxy’s Edge

Every time you visit Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, do you wish you were experiencing the iconic music and characters from A New Hope? Well, the Force is with you. Beginning April 29, 2026, you can! In Disneyland.

When Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge opened in 2019, the Batuu timeline was set between episodes 8 and 9, leaving no room for classic characters such as Darth Vader, Luke, Leia, and Han Solo, or the classic score by John Williams. This led to one of the biggest complaints about the land, “This isn’t my Star Wars.”

Will Ahsoka Tano See Darth Vader?

Disneyland will try to respect the canon of the timelines by placing “original characters” near the Millennium Falcon, the current First Order area, and of course, Oga’s Cantina, where we can all debate whether Han shot first. Ahsoka Tano, Mandalorian, and Grogu will be in the marketplace, so don’t expect an Ahsoka and Anakin reunion. Then look out for Rey in the forested outskirts of Batuu. And of course, R2-D2 can roam throughout the lands wherever he wants to be.

This will still be an imperfect answer, as Smugglers Run will add Mandalorian and Grogu scenes in May. And how do you explain the TIE Echelon in a picture with Darth Vader? Star Wars fans will need to stretch their brain in a similar way that Harry Potter fans pretend to agree that Professor Umbridge can be on trial in 1920’s Paris. I suspect, just like we see in Epic Universe, fans will be so happy to see their favorites in Galaxy’s Edge, that they won’t mind at all.

Does This Mean New Merchandise is Coming?

Of course, new updates are the perfect opportunity to introduce new merch. The First Order Cargo will transform into Black Spire Surplus, with relics from across the history of the galaxy.  A newer generation of the Mubo family will be at Droid Depot, with prototypes of the newest droid, BB8. Can hope to see some C-3PO and K-2SO representation too?.

Are you loving the changes? Or will they cause you to turn to the dark side? We can’t wait to see it all!

  • Historically, even they introduce something like this at Disneyland, do they typically eventually add it to Disney World? If yes, what is the usual timeframe?

Love the addition of music, masked characters, and new characters like Rey and Ahsoka. However, I’m just not sure I can suspend disbelief with seeing anyone else but the OG actors playing Luke, Leia, and Han.

Having said all that, BE FAIR TO FLORIDA!

  • Surprised that it took them this long to make the change. Hardly anyone says “Bright Suns”, just like no one learned the Navi language for Pandora. People want character interactions. now if they’d make use of the cat walks above the area more that would be fun!

I was surprised to learn from Guy that a CM called a banana by its proper name. On the Halcyon, it was a long fruit. We’re definitely not seeing the same interactions from the villagers of Batu as we did in 2019.
