Disney in Minute: What is Henna Painting?
If you’re looking for a special experience at EPCOT, you may want to check out the Henna painting table in the Morocco pavilion in the World Showcase.
Used in Morocco and many other countries, Henna is a traditional way to decorate the body, often the hands and feet. The dye is made from the powdered leaves of the henna tree combined with water, coconut oil, lemon juice, and some scents and stabilizing agents. The dye is painted onto the skin in intricate designs. As it dries, the solution penetrates the outermost layer of skin, leaving the equivalent of a temporary tattoo. The longer the dye stays on the skin, the deeper the red-brown color. The color gradually fades and typically disappears in one to four weeks.
Prices start at about $25 and go up from there. You can choose from a book of pre-designed images or speak to your henna artist about modifications.
We’re here with a series of quick posts, “Disney in a Minute,” bite-sized nuggets of information that can better help you understand a Disney term or planning topic. Enjoy!
Hi Erin! Is there any henna in disney springs offered?
Hi – There’s face painting stand in the Marketplace area of Disney Springs, near the Marketplace Coop, that does offer henna painting. That said, I’ve rarely seen the artists in actions there, the hours seem to be more limited than at EPCOT.
okay thanks!!! I appreciate it.
