I wish I had been on your research team for this! Let me know if you do an update. I’m have lots of experience and am willing to go the extra mile sitting on a bar stool (or several) to help your cause!
Brian, I love the idea of this book…as a part-time mixologist and also Disney-file, I have already done most of the research for these locations. One adjustment I would like to see for your scoring system is to not penalize the in-park bars for location. While they are not close to parking, etc., their location is a positive BECAUSE they are in the park. I think if you assume one is already in the park (no one would go to a park just for the bar…except for La Cava maybe), then the presence of a great bar/restaurant (e.g. Brown Derby, La Cava, Tutto Gusto, Rose & Crown)is a fantastic bonus IMO. In other words, having a great bar in a location you wouldn’t expect to find one should add to it’s score. JMO.
Thanks Keith, and I agree about the location score. The idea was to represent people traveling from their hotel rather than those already in the parks, but it could use a little tweaking. I’m sure there will be plenty of adjustments in the future.
So excited for this! I downloaded it last night and can’t wait to get started! The info will come in handy for my honeymoon in October!
Great…thanks! And congratulations!
Thank you! Are you able to visit the bars that are located in restaurant areas, like the bar at the California Grill? Or do you need to have dinner reservations to visit/eat at the bar? I thought when I last visited the California Grill in May you needed to have reservations to even ride the elevator up.
Normally you are able to sit at the bar (if there is space) regardless of reservations. California Grill is sometimes different, but you can normally go up to the bar unless it’s very busy. California Grill is also under refurbishment until “late summer” so it’s hard to give definitive answers for that particular restaurant. I can’t think of any other spot that there would be a problem, and they’re all covered in the book 🙂
Only 70? Does that include all the hotels on WDW property? If I ever win the lottery I’m going to make it a goal to have a drink in every bar on WDW.
Yes, it includes all the hotels that you can reach through Disney transportation (so including Swan and Dolphin, but not Shades of Green or the non-Disney owned hotels near Downtown Disney). It includes every in-park bar, every lounge, and every pool bar!
I think a drink in all of them is a wonderful goal, although I would spread it out over a few days 😉
