EPCOT’s Tuesday Pin Drop

Pin trading is bigger than ever in Walt Disney World. There are pin boards everywhere! Attractions, merch locations, water parks, blue umbrellas.. everywhere!! Pin trading is such a significant side quest that Disney has created a process to release new pins in the parks and Disney Springs each Tuesday.

We decided to check out the Tuesday pin drop at EPCOT because the lines at Disney Springs start to form around 1:00am. Here is how it works:

Tap in and Head for Disney Traders

We attended the Tuesday, May 19th pin drop at EPCOT. Regular entry was 9:00am and Early Entry was 8:30am. We tapped in and walked through World Celebration toward Disney Traders at the entrance to World Showcase as shown on the map above.

• 8:14am in line at Disney Traders. Early Entry is a big advantage for this location.
• 8:20am Cast Members distributed wristbands to everyone in line. The wristbands are numbered and help prevent late comers skipping or cutting in the line.

The whole process was very orderly and lines are roped off.

• 8:44am guests were allowed to enter Disney Traders.

All new pins are not available in all locations. For example, Zootopia pins would be released at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. The Disney Springs pin release seems to have the best chance of having the biggest selection of new pins if Facebook pin groups are correct. The only way to know exactly what is available at a particular location is to show up and find out. Cast Members had the laminated sheets, above, inside Disney Traders to help guests in line make decisions as they waited. Note the limit is 2 pins per guest, per style, per day.

The selection process is very controlled and very orderly. One or two guests at a time will be invited to inspect the new pins. While we wouldn’t describe the process as rushed, the line moves quickly. We had our pin at 9:20am.

Disney doesn’t release all of the upcoming pin sales, but there are countless online sites that do. Facebook seemed to be the favorite with guests we met in line on Tuesday.
