We’ve known for a while about the upcoming closure of It’s Tough to Be a Bug in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, but now we have a date. The attraction will have its final showings on March 16, 2025, and will be off the roster beginning on March 17, 2025.

It’s Tough to Be a Bug was an opening-day attraction at Animal Kingdom, even though Pixar’s A Bug’s Life wasn’t released until more than six months later. Housed in the base of the park’s iconic Tree of Life, the queue features animal carvings and punny posters.

Once in the theater, guests are treated to a 4D attraction hosted by Flik, the main character from the movie. The edutainment experience offers guests the chance to learn about the many roles that bugs play in the ecosystem, while being poked in the back by hornets and subjected to stinky stinkbug smells. I know that my kids absolutely loved it, even though there was never a long wait.

Once the attraction takes a curtain call, work will begin on a brand new Zootopia-themed show. We know that the title is Zootopia: Better Zoogether! And we know that Disney promises that “You’ll want to herd the whole family together to join Judy Hopps, Nick Wilde and more for a new wild adventure that will make you want to clap your hands.”. Better Zoogether is scheduled to open in winter of 2025, so I suspect we’ll be getting more details soon!

Are you looking forward to the new show in the Tree of Life Theater? Are you sad to see this one go? Let us know in the comments!

She lives just north of Boston with her husband, kids, and assorted animal members of the family. Although it took three visits for the Disney bug to "take", she now really wishes she lived a lot closer to the Parks.
