POP Century Lobby Refurb Underway

POP Century’s lobby has been undergoing an extensive refurbishment since late July of this year. According to Disney’s website, the updates aren’t scheduled for completion until early October 2025, but we took the Skyliner over recently to check on the progress. The lobby is fully operational during construction, as are the merchandise location and food court just off the lobby inside Everything POP.

We pulled some old POP Century lobby photos to show the contrast with the current views.

The biggest shock to anyone who has visited this Value Resort in the past will be the lack of memorabilia on the walls during construction. The old shadow box displays are hidden under covers and tarps right now. Below are a few of our favorite items from the old lobby.

Remember when we used to buy music magazines??

Below are some shots from our visit this week. No word yet on whether or not the bits and bobs of the past will appear in the new lobby, but we sure hope so. If not, it might be time to schedule a trip to one of the many Orlando locations that specialize in selling offloaded Disney fixtures and props.

New character murals have appeared.

The new murals seem to keep with the “timeline” theme we’ve come to expect at this resort. Minnie is dressed in a 1950’s letter jacket and is surrounded by icons from that time period like classic cars, vinyl records, and old televisions. Things get groovier as you pan to the right where Daisy seems to be coming into her flower child era. The rest of the new lobby wall is a mystery for now, but we’ll keep checking on the progress.

We noted that Disney kept the child-friendly section of the lobby open during construction, too. It’s still located just inside the ride share/bell services entrance next to the front desk.

It looks pretty different from the old version and has less seating than the old design, but we’re aware construction is ongoing, and this space will likely look better next month when the project is scheduled for completion.

The lobby isn’t the only part of this resort undergoing changes. Guest rooms are also currently under refurbishment with an expected completion date of February 2026. Disney’s website cautions that Guests may hear construction sounds during this time, although all resort amenities will remain available.
