Star Wars: The Force Awakens Opening Night Event Planned for Walt Disney World
Are you anxiously awaiting Star Wars: The Force Awakens? Well for those who will be in the Orlando area, I have the ultimate plan for your Star Wars viewing experiences.
To celebrate the opening of the new film, the Walt Disney World Resort will be hosting an opening night event on December 17. This special ticketed event will begin at the AMC Disney Springs 24 Theatres. Guests will get a confirmed seat at the first public showings of the new film and then enjoy a private, after-hours party at Disney’s Hollywood Studios that will last until 2:00 a.m.
The party which begins at 11:00 p.m. will include access to the new Star Wars Launch Bay, Star Tours – The Adventures Continue, and a DJ dance party. The night will be capped off with the preview of a new fireworks spectacular set to the iconic Star Wars score. Event attendees will also get a commemorative souvenir event ticket. Guests will be encouraged to dress in costume, but standard Disney costume rules apply.
Ticket prices will vary to reflect the different movie format options including 2D ($94.99), 3D ($98.99) and 3D ETX ($99.99). All ticket options will include access to the party at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. You must purchase tickets to both; you cannot purchase tickets to just the party.
Participants will need to provide their own transportation between Disney Springs and Disney’s Hollywood Studios. If you are staying at a Walt Disney World Resort Hotel the night of the event and prefer not to drive, complimentary transportation will be provided from Disney Springs to Disney’s Hollywood Studios and back to your resort. There will not be transportation provided between Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Disney Springs at the end of the event. Parking at Disney’s Hollywood Studios is included in the event ticket price.
Following the trailer launch, tickets to the “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” Opening Night Event will be on sale. (The trailer premieres this evening during Monday Night Football’s halftime.) So I have dinner reservations that night at HS…. to do the Minnie’s Holiday dinner…. do you think there will be an impact or not at all?
The special event won’t start until 11:00 p.m. so the park will have been closed for a while before this event kicks off. You will be just fine, no impact. 🙂
Thanks Rikki!
When will the tickets be available for purchase? The link provided does not work.
The link will not be live until after “The Force Awakens” trailer airs during Monday Night Football this evening.
In the FAQs the only attractions scheduled to be open are Star Tours and the Star Wars Launch Bay. The fireworks will be neat, the character interactions are supposed to be neat. But $98 for a movie and 4 hours of a limited park…
