The Coca-Cola App Can Improve Your Disney and Universal Soda Experience

By now most folks are familiar with Coke Freestyle Machines. These are the soda dispensers where you can create your own flavor combo in your cup, made from any ratio of several dozen Coca-Cola company brands.

There are now Coke Freestyle machines in many of the Walt Disney World resorts, at Splitsville at Disney Springs, at the DVC lounge at Epcot, as well as at other locations in and around Orlando, including lots of spots at Universal Studios.

My kids like to play around creating wacky combinations like lime Dasani, mixed with Cherry Sprite, Dr. Pepper, and Orange Diet Coke. Ewwwww. On the other hand, I love the Freestyle machines, but I have very specific combinations that I like, in specific ratios. The Coke app to the rescue!

Download the Coca-Cola app and then click the Freestyle button at the bottom.

Then tap the + sign next to “My Mixes.”

From there you can add and subtract your favorite beverages to create the mix you want. At first it will give you all the selections in equal measure, but you can drag the dividing lines on the “pie chart” of your blend to change the ratios.

Once you’ve given your mix a name (mine is Ginger Lemon), just save it to the app. Then the next time you’re at a Freestyle machine, scan the app and your perfect blend will be dispensed automatically without having to key in all your choices and with no worry that you’ll accidentally add too much of one flavor and not enough of another. Huzzah!

The app also includes an interactive map where you can search for Freestyle machine locations. Keep zooming in to the spot you want to see if there are machines nearby.

One little bit of weirdness for Disney World guests is that the app will find some locations that are not accessible to the public. For example, in the map below, WDW GRAND FLRDN GASPARILLA FS is the Gasparilla Grill guest quick service dining venue at the Grand Floridian. They have Freestyle machines there. Yay! However, the Stage Door Cafe listed there is a cast member-only location. This info is terrific if you’re a cast member, but could be confusing if you’re a guest. If a name seems strange or unfamiliar to you, it’s probably best to ask a nearby cast member if that location is open to the public.

Enjoy your drinks! (And p.s. my Ginger Lemon blend is very refreshing. Let me know if you try it. )
