What the Magic Hour Looks Like at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Even on the busiest day, getting to a Disney theme park early can be a magical time. Many times you are able to ride more attractions in the first hour of operations than in several hours after that. Although Disney has posted opening times, the parks generally allow guests in early and some attractions are open and operating before the official opening time. What does it look like? This Saturday, we stopped by Disney’s Hollywood Studios and entered the park at 8:20 a.m. (on a posted 9:00 a.m. opening day). Here’s what it looked like to walk around.

Do you love early days in the parks? Do you prefer getting in as many rides as you can or just soaking in the joy of being in Disney?

  • Yep, just “regular magic” and not “Extra Magic” — but if the park opens at 9 AM, try to get there well before that because you may find some attractions operating early.

  • Hi David-
I think our use of the word ‘Magic’ here is confusing. Disney has suspended its Extra Magic Hours program indefinitely. However, on busy days, Disney is opening some parks, such as Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios, around 45 to 60 minutes before their official opening time. We’re describing that time before official opening as “magical” here.

    Sorry for the confusion.

  • Thanks so much for the article. Question? I am traveling there with my family over the winter break and I read that magic hours have been suspended? But it looks like you just enjoyed one.

Can you clarify for me? Thanks!
