Are you ready to set the candy corn aside and embrace some Christmas cheer? Hope so, because the holidays have arrived at Disneyland! Read on to find out about this and more in this week’s Disneyland preview.
Special Events and Notes
Disney sees the arrival of Dapper Day a couple of times a year, and this weekend welcomes the fall event. It’s not an “official” Disney-sanctioned event, but it’s well-attended and you’ll definitely notice lots of people running around the resort on Saturday and Sunday looking, well, pretty dapper. It’s an excuse for Disney fans to dress to the nines and then head out to the parks looking like a million bucks. It always adds a fun energy to the parks, in addition to adding a lot of people. The event will take place on Saturday and Sunday, and includes an Expo at the Disneyland Hotel where you can stock up on all manner of dapper gear. Check out the the official site for details on the Expo and to get tickets, which are $10 for the whole weekend.
Also, Halloween is in the rear view mirror, so in Disney terms, that means that Christmas is here, with the holiday festivities officially kicking off on November 9. You’ll see holiday decor throughout the resort, but there are a couple of special events starting that day as well at Disney’s California Adventure. Disney’s Festival of Holidays includes the Festive Foods Marketplace, a collection of kiosks serving small bites of all manner of seasonal food and drink. Additionally, Disney’s ¡Viva Navidad! is a cultural holiday celebration leading up to Three Kings Day that includes authentic music, dance, decor, and food. Passholders, make sure you stop by the AP Corner for special freebies and opportunities as well!
Disney’s parades and evening shows get into the holiday spirit as well, with A Christmas Fantasy Parade and Believe… in Holiday Magic Fireworks taking place regularly throughout the season. Several attractions also get a seasonal overhaul for the holidays. This year, in addition to perennial favorites like Haunted Mansion Holiday and it’s a small world Holiday, a couple of Radiator Springs attractions get a transformation. You’ll find Mater’s Jingle Jamboree and Luigi’s Joy to the Whirl along with the wonderful holiday decor in Cars Land.
Even with Dapper Days this weekend, crowds run from moderate to low this week, with Sunday predicted to have the highest crowds at level 6.
Full details, including park-by-park crowd levels, are available on our Crowd Calendar.
It should be another nice week in Anaheim. Temperatures should be in the low 80s to mid-to-upper 70s and dry, which is typical for this time of year.
As always, it’s wise to double check the weather as the day of your visit approaches. Check out the most up-to-date forecast here.
The entertainment schedule is much lighter during much of the week. There are, however, special seasonal shows, including a parade and fireworks, that run starting on Thursday. Detailed show schedules, including smaller diversions like The Straw Hatters can be found here.

While most attractions are operational, there are a couple of heavy hitters out of commission this week. At Disneyland Park, the Matterhorn is down through November 16, and it’s a small world is offline through November 7 to install the holiday overlay. Everything else is scheduled to be online.
At California Adventure, World of Color remains offline until further notice — we’ll let you know when we have a better idea of when it will return as well, but we are not anticipating it back until the latter part of the year. Paint the Night will also go away indefinitely as of November 8. All other attractions are currently operational, but as always, be aware that refurbishments can pop up unexpectedly, so check out our refurbishments page for details on exactly what will be down and for how long.
That should do it for this week’s preview. Check back next week and every week to find out what’s coming down the pike. Got questions? Aware of anything else that prospective guests should know about? Let us know in the comments.
