New Holiday Magic to be Introduced at Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Nothing says the holiday season like May 21, right? But this news makes me very happy, because I’ve always thought that Disney’s Animal Kingdom lacked a lot in the holiday decor. Sure, they’ve had a gorgeous Christmas tree that’s filled with unique animal masks, but really, other than that, there hasn’t been a whole lot. This year, however, there will be some great new additions and new entertainment in every single land to help get you in the holiday spirit.

First, walking into to Discovery Island, you will see that the village is filled with sparkling white holiday decorations. There will be colorful, animal-inspired luminaries that will line the rooftops of the surrounding buildings, and wireframe lanterns in the shape of beautiful birds can be found perched throughout the area. And during the day, Discovery Island will also included a holiday gathering of winter animals, realized in the form of life-size, artisan-sculpted puppets. Guests will see reindeer, foxes, polar bears, penguins and more who will be able to interact with Guests, accompanied by serenading musicians.

Then, once evening approaches, the rooftop luminaries and bird lanterns all around Discovery Island will light up and glow. In addition, the Tree of Life Awakening will include a series of wintry tales.

Moving over to Dinoland U.S.A, for Donald’s Dino-Bash! Guests will be able to get into the spirit with colorful holiday decorations in the style of Donald Duck and pals, and at night, you’re invited to gather ‘round Truck-O-Saurus for the Holiday Hoopla Dance Party with Chip ‘n Dale.

In Asia, the theatre district has been decorated in celebration of Diwali, the holiday festival of lights in India. Glowing flowers, lanterns and more illuminate the square between Anandapur Theater and the waterfront stage. It is also expected that there will still be the celebration of Diwali included in the Up! A Great Bird Adventure Show.

Africa’s village of Harambe will offer a new holiday presentation that blends the inspiration and style of western traditions with the colors and textiles of authentic African celebrations. Harambe performers will introduce holiday-inspired enhancements, including costume additions and new music. Finally, inside Tusker House, Mickey and his pals will spread holiday cheer throughout the meal.

Last but not least, in the newest land of Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Pandora – The World of Avatar, the ex-pats who are living and working here will bring a little Christmastime fun to their alien home, with a display at Pongu Pongu of kitschy holiday décor, combining vintage pieces from Earth with items handcrafted from materials indigenous to Pandora.

The holiday fun will begin at Disney’s Animal Kingdom on November 8.
