Details About the World Nature Neighborhood at Epcot
The World Nature section of Epcot is the section that will see the least amount of work. World Nature is dedicated to understanding and preserving the beauty, awe, and balance of the natural world. It will include The Land and The Seas with Nemo & Friends pavilions. (Hmmmm….where is the Imagination Pavilion going?)
As previously announced, Journey of Water will be the first experience inspired by the hit Walt Disney Animation Studios film, Moana. This lush exploration trail will invite you to meet and play with magical, living water. The water here will have a life of its own and you’ll learn about the importance of the natural water cycle.
In addition, coming to The Land pavilion will be the new film, “Awesome Planet.” This new film was announced back in March and will showcase the beauty, diversity, and dynamic story of the planet. This new film will feature spectacular nature photography, immersive in-theater effects, and space sequences created by Industrial Light & Magic. Awesome Planet will stir Epcot Guests and deliver an environmental message. It will debut in January 2020.
More details on changes coming to World Nature will be released as we learn them. Stay tuned to the blog.
Re: Imagination, if you look closely at the color-coded map of the old Future World area, Imagination is in the World Celebration neighborhood (or most of it, anyway).
Seem the “Celebration” part includes imagination and story telling, with the revamped theme of Spaceship Earth.
This was actually the most promising announcement to me. I can’t believe that they used the phrase “you’ll learn about the importance of the natural water cycle,” since they seem hell-bent on separating Epcot from its edutainment roots. I’ve expected the new Epcot motto to be “don’t worry, you won’t learn anything”
