  • I wonder when Fultons is closing as it is still taking reservations for this summer. I have booked a table for my anniversary in July, guess I am going to need a back up then.

      • I have contacted Disney & they have neither confirmed or denied that it is going to be in the middle of a refurbishment. Very frustrating as it was a celebration dinner so I have made an additional reservation at the boathouse & will cancel one nearer to the time. Thanks for getting back to me though.

  • Ugh…. So Disney Springs is basically a high end suburban mall. That’s disappointing.

    • What’s been announced is largely what I was expecting since the first announcement of the a Town Center area.

      What were you expecting?

    • It wasn’t that already?

      • It certainly has been trending that direction over the past decade. Is Disney Springs meant for the local Orlando market? Why in the world would anyone spend vacation time going to Sephora when there are stores all over the country?

I guess I was hoping for more exclusive stores, not in terms of pricing, but fewer chain stores. More destination stores, one-of-a-kinds. I’d like more themed stores.

And I’d definitely like more entertainment options beyond the Cirque show that’s been there for 20 years and bowling. How about a TopGolf, a new dinner theater option, an indoor mini-golf, aquarium, indoor skydiving or skiing, Ferris wheel, micro-brewery with tours and classes. Something, anything besides what I can find at malls across the US.

The only reason to go to Disney Springs at the moment is to finish out your souvenir shopping at World of Disney and perhaps eat at Raglan.

      • I agree. The balance between exclusive and franchise stores seems off, especially for a business that prides themselves on creativity.

      • The Marketplace area is already full of stores selling Disney merchandise, I don’t think there is actually anything else Disney could sell!

There was more talk about unique internation brand stores and I think Uniqlo will open their first store in the south-east USA. But there doesn’t seem to be much else like that coming.
For me coming from London, UK Uniqlo would be the least unique offering, there are many of these stores we don’t get over here.

      • I think you answered your own question as to why when you wrote “anything besides what I can find in the US.” I have relatives from South America who spend thousands of dollars at the outlets and the malls when they visit Disney each year. They snap up things they either can’t get at home, or that are priced at a huge mark-up. Now they can spend their $ on Disney property for sow of those things. Just a thought. Probably not the only reason but I’m sure it was one factor.

      • I agree they could do with more entertainment options. But Disney has mini-golf so I guess they don’t see the point adding another (although indoor would be very welcome!).
There is an aquarium in Epcot and a Sea Life centre at the Orlando Eye, so that doesn’t seem unique either.

But mainly I get the impression, given the number of third-party run places, Disney just doesn’t want to operate as many new places. They seem to be trying to get rid of the Disney Quest building to a third party as well.

      • I couldn’t agree more. Disney Springs is becoming less Disney and family-oriented and more of posh outdoor high-end shopping district. Does anyone know what’s going on with Disney Quest? Is it still open? It’s still on the Disney website. I heard the NBA experience was scrapped. I found a petition to keep it open on change.org. you can google it if you are interested in signing. People seem very polarized on Disney Quest. I think it’s lots of fun and gives families a safe, cool place to let their kids run and play.

  • D-Luxe Burger sounds like my kind of scene. Between that and Raglan Road, they might actually get me over to Disney Springs at some point.

    • They have a place similar to what I described here in ATL and it’s incredible. So if it’s anywhere close to that, it’s gonna be really good!

  • Any idea when Disney Springs will be complete?

    • My guess is it will all be done before Thanksgiving 2016.
These stores open in stages starting May. Planet Hollywood will re-open in August or around then. There might be a few places still without tenants and some finishing details to be done, but Fall 2016 seems likely.

      • How far along is the second parking structure? That’s likely the thing that will take the most time. (Remember how long the first one took?)

    • As of right now, not 100% sure. Many of these shops will be opening in May, some of the restaurants are slated for summer 2016, but I suspect it won’t be until right before the holiday rush before everything is done.

  • Is “cupcake ATM” a hipper name for a vending machine or…?

    • Yep, should probably call it an ACM (automated cupcake machine). Sounds dangerous lol
