The Best Breakfast In Disneyland Resort! Tangaroa Terrace Breakfast Review

Located on the grounds of the Disneyland Hotel, Tangaroa Terrace is a quick service restaurant and bar that serves Asian-Polynesian inspired food and drink. This poolside tropical retreat attempts to evoke an island feeling, and is decorated with Tiki torches, shaded with palm trees, and has South Seas music playing. We reviewed Tangaroa Terrace’s lunch and dinner menu a few months back, but today we’re focusing on the breakfast menu.

Here’s the entire breakfast spread. This is your first and last warning to not read this post while hungry!

First is what I would consider to be the headliner item of the breakfast menu, the Tangaroa Toast. For $15 you get brick toast topped with bananas Foster, whipped cream, and toasted coconut, along with a side of bacon.

If you’re a Walt Disney World fan you may see a similarity to the Polynesian Resort’s famous Tonga Toast, which is pretty much the same entree. It’s fantastic, decadent, filling, and a prime example of “vacation food.” I wished they served it all day because it would make a killer dessert to share with friends or family.

Here’s a cross section to get your mouth watering.

Another standout item is the Thick and Fluffy Japanese Pancakes for $14. That’s not just a clever name, they really are satisfyingly thick and fluffy. You get fluffy vanilla pancakes, tropical fruit compote, starfruit and guava syrup, and a side of bacon. The guava syrup is glorious and I could have drank an entire cup of it if they let me.

If I had to pick my favorite breakfast in Disneyland Resort, this would be it. Whoever you’re eating with may suggest getting multiple items to share, but when it comes to these pancakes be sure to rudely deny them. I guarantee you’ll want them all for yourself.

The Avocado Toast ($15) yet another great item. The dish includes toasted hawaiian bread, smashed avocado, soft boiled egg, furikake hollandaise, Portuguese sausage, fried nori, and edible flowers. The avocado is creamy, and the buttery sweet Hawaiian bread will stay on your mind for days. The perfectly poached egg and salty Portuguese sausage was a nice contrast to the creaminess of the avocado and hollandaise.

Wrapping up this review with the $13 Loco Moco Burrito, which includes steamed rice, chopped beef patty, fried egg, gravy, crunchy onions, and served with salsa roja. It’s not bad, but it’s also not great, and when the menu contains so many winners it’s hard to justify unless you’re not a fan of sweets or avocado toast for breakfast.

Here’s a cross section. As you can see the Loco Mobo Burrito unfortunately contains mostly white rice. The meat that is there is unusually bland. The included salsa helps the flavor a little bit, but it’s very mild. We recommend you pass on this one. Also on the menu is a traditional American Breakfast with Scrambled Egg, Bacon, and Sweet Potato Hash, served with a Pineapple Wedge for $15, as well as a Açai Chia Breakfast Bowl for $11.

Tangaroa Terrace is a little slice of Walt Disney World’s Polynesian Village Resort.

Most of the outdoor seats are dedicated to the neighboring Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar, but Tangaroa Terrace has a decent amount of indoor and outdoor seating.

Many of Tangaroa Terrace’s tables overlook Disneyland Hotel’s pool complex.

Be sure to stop by the Disneyland Hotel’s monorail slide nearby. It looks especially great at night.

Overall Tangaroa Terrace’s breakfast menu blows away any other quick service breakfast in the park. The only downside is that it’s a bit out of the way thanks to its location at Disneyland Hotel. During the mornings when the park crowds are at their lowest you don’t want spend time eating breakfast. But it’s a good option if you have multiple park days planned and want to take it slow one of the mornings, or if it’s your checkout day.
