The Villas at Disneyland Hotel Duo Studio Review

This is a review of the Duo Studio room category at The Villas at Disneyland Hotel, which is the newest Disneyland Hotel tower at Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California. In this post we’ll review only the Duo Studio room, please see our full review The Villas at Disneyland Hotel which takes a look at the hotel’s amenities, Palette Pool, and everything else about this Disney Vacation Club property. The Villas at Disneyland Hotel are housed in the Discovery Tower, which is the newest building at Disneyland Hotel. 38 of the tower’s 344 rooms are Duo Studios. The Duo Studio configuration sleeps two guests. Standard, Preferred and Garden view categories are available.

Most of the Duo Studio rooms are located in the main tower, but in this review we’ll be checking out one located in this block six rooms overlooking the Palette Pool.

The Duo Studio rooms are tight but space is used efficiently. Duo Studios feature a queen-size pull-down bed. This is nice because it clears space when the bed is not in use. Converting the bed is a easy process. Just move some couch cushions and a couple of small ottomans of the way and then you’re clear to pull the bed down via the handles on the outside.

Here’s the bed while its pulled down. There’s still a decent amount of room in the front and on the sides of the bed after being pulled down. The room also includes a single chair which can be seen in the lower left corner of the picture.

Each room category at The Villas at Disneyland Hotel has a different theme from one of Disney’s animated movies. The Duo Studios feature a Jungle Book theme. I consider Baloo to be one of the most aspirational characters in fiction. He’s a chill dude who’s all about relaxing and enjoys napping. Life goals!

Each side of the bed has a shelf with cubby hole underneath. A panel with a standard electrical outlet, USB-C, USB-A and a light switch are available on each side. Plenty of charging ports for all of your devices.

Across from the bed you’ll find a dresser with three drawers, Keurig coffee maker with K-Cups, safe, microwave, minifridge, and a phone.

Here’s the room’s fridge and microwave. To the right you can see a green mini couch. This doesn’t convert into anything and it’s not very comfortable, but it’s another place to sit in addition to the chair I mentioned earlier. For some reason I forgot to take a picture of the tiny couch. Sorry!

Above the micro couch are some paintings and drawings from The Jungle Book.

One of the cabinets contains the room’s safe along with some helpful slide out drawers. One of the many great functional features in the Duo Studio.

To the left of the dresser and TV area is the entrance hallway.

The closet has enough room to store a couple of suitcases and plenty of room to hang clothing. The full length mirror slides out of the way to reveal another storage area containing a laundry basket, ironing board and iron.

Heading into the bathroom you can see the illuminated mirror and countertop with a decent amount of counter space. Two shelves under the counter provide more room for storage.

Unlike the other rooms at The Villas at Disneyland Hotel, the toilet in the Duo Studios are next to the sink and not in a separate toilet room. Inside the shower you’ll find an adjustable showerhead and rain shower head above. Overall the bathroom is fantastic in terms of both look and functionality. The lighting is good and the shower is roomy.Finally we’ll take a look at the gigantic balcony. It’s almost as big as the entire room. Two chairs are provided to lounge on.

The Duo Studios are tiny but the space is used well. These rooms are good for solo travelers, couples, or a couple with a infant child. In my full review I said, “Disney greatly improved the non-DVC rooms at Grand Californian Hotel back in 2018 (check out our review of those rooms here), and in terms of functionality these rooms are even better. The Disney Vacation Club wing at Grand Californian (see our review here) has received no such upgrade, which makes the rooms at The Villas at Disneyland Hotel lightyears better. With all that said, it doesn’t even matter. The demand for DVC rooms at Disneyland Resort far outweighs the supply and DVC rooms at Grand Californian immediately sell out when their booking window opens. It’s safe to assume the same will happen at The Villas at Disneyland Hotel. Thankfully you’ll know you’re getting your money’s worth when you stay at The Villas at Disneyland Hotel, whether it be by using DVC points, or by paying the high cash rates.” I feel the same with the Duo Studio as well.
